Whether it’s preventing hospitalization, lost school/work/duty days, or limiting transmission to others, the flu vaccine is something I will continue recommending as both an individual and force health protection measure.

Even an imperfect flu vaccine offers demonstrable benefit.

Pupdate: the sample came back BENIGN!!! It’s either an inflammatory process or a benign tumor caught very early on. Not the scary malignant anal gland tumor they were worried about.

Thank y’all for the love and prayers. We still meet with the surgeon in a week to ensure removal. We are so grateful!

Yes, which I’m guessing we will definitely be meeting our deductible for at this rate… our vet said regardless of what the sample shows, she’d recommend we get it removed. Fortunately it’s small- they’re usually not diagnosed until much bigger. So hopefully we caught it early.

Pupdate: during his ER visit, the vet appreciated a small mass in buddy’s anal gland. We returned today for our regular vet to examine it. She got a sample of it, and we have a consultation with the surgeon for removal in the next couple weeks. #FriarGus

Can’t advocate enough for the MSAH team. They’ve been there through some of the worst times of my pet ownership life. Competent, compassionate, professional, and direct. Everything you need in an emergency.

Home and loving on my buddy. Had to wash off the hospital smell (his, for once, not mine). I may be biased, but I think he’s the prettiest lil floof in midcity tonight. #nolasky #nolatwitter #friargus

Fluids, Benadryl, epi, antiemetics, snuggles… fever broken, and baby is no longer trembling. I’ll probably cry later, but at least he’s okay. 🥹

He’s doing remarkably better for someone that caused so much stress to his Mama

That’s my thought. He didn’t have any obvious abrasions or barbs or anything on his feet, so I’m wondering if he licked something he shouldn’t have like monsterpillar guts in the yard. Regardless, it messed him up. Fever of 105.7° 🥵

He’s no longer trembling, and he’s appropriately affectionate and bright-eyed again. I’m glad I brought him in. The MSAH team is top-notch.

We are home!!! They think he had an allergic reaction to ~something~ unknown. Apparently there have been a ton of similar cases lately. His fever has broken, and his tail is wagging again. He’s getting a gentle rice dinner and extra love. #FriarGus

At the ER vet. The little Friar suddenly developed a fever and has been generally pitiful for about 3 hours. Please send healing thoughts. #FriarGus

Finally sitting down to do my taxes. Fortunately I have an advisor “helping” me through the process. #FriarGus

I must’ve missed the shooting beams of light fellowship. Also the robes. Though I am always cold, so maybe it would be a better uniform.
