Lovely sonnet!
Lived in VA for a lot of my life. No longer live/vote there. Please pass this, VA! The deeply gerrymandered VA 5th District needs you!
America can’t have nice things. Thanks, MAGAts. Thanks, 47. Thanks, coward GOP.
Beautiful, peaceful place
One of my very fave episodes! This will be me at the end of the world!
Ugh, what a weasel
Wow! I love this!
Good, but it is chilling that they had to
I will take my one vote and do my part to vote these people out. Drop in the bucket, i know—but it’s my drop and if I hope to make a difference, I’ll have to use it. Minnesota voter here.
Even though published almost 4 years ago, this is the best article I've read about book bans. I hope you'll read and share it. #BookSky
My grandson attends Montessori school in the same building where Prince went to Bryant Middle School in Minneapolis. Now it’s the Sabathani Community Center. There’s a huge photo of Prince in the hall. My 7 yr old grandson knows who he is. He lives on.
And if I’m not mistaken, Geoffrey Chaucer and his son Thomas also politically survived the transition from Richard to Henry. Check me on this, Chaucer people!
I promised my students I would watch one of these, and I did—several good scenes, otherwise a snore. I can’t watch this stuff. Then again, I am old.
No maybe about it
Must watch “Flow”— the apotheosis of the secretary bird is one of its best scenes

I love your Darwin Fish
A wonderful book
Paid my substantial taxes like a good citizen and now I’m supposed to pay off the Mob Boss-in-chief with a hefty part of it? Meanwhile, oligarchs pay nothing.

2026 Nebula Awards short-listed novels: KATABASIS
Here's my third in a series of posts reviewing the 2026 Nebula Awards short-listed works in the Best Novel category. To see the complete list, go HERE. I'm on a mission to read and review all seven of these novels before the Science Fiction And…
Not taking literally. Some feel 1st person pov asks them to identify completely with the pov character & if they aren’t that person irl, they turn off. A different reader can imagine being the character but know the author isn’t asking complete identification (see Welty’s “Why I Live at the P.O.”)
They say they’re getting so many AI Slop-generated books that it’s taking up too much time/resources. If a small fee cuts a lot of it out, i guess that will be worth it
And a murderer. People died for his stunt
As a Minnesota voter who DOES vote, and in all elections available to me, I will remember this obstruction when i go to the polls next time.
I don’t think we disagree—just saying there’s such a fad for 1st person that clumsy writers are using it a lot right now. I use it a lot myself! ( hope I’m not one of the clumsier). And then naive readers can misinterpret it as either automatically the author’s opinion or somehow their own.
Vote them out
We’re all doomed
