if you come to one artist with a commission idea. confirm the slot, discuss pricing, when the work will be finished, etc. and then change your mind and give the same commission idea to another artist. that is unprofessional. *especially* if you know the first artist is in a bad financial spot. ESPECIALLY if the two artists are friends with each other and tell each other when this happens. don't confirm your slot if you're unsure who to commission if you have options, hell, don't even come to them with the idea if you have a feeling you'll just give the other idea to someone else. stick with your artist and be patient. if you know the commission is time sensitive, inform the artist ahead of time. if you *really* need to change artists, pay the first one for the trouble. it's basic manners. out of guilt for feeling like i've stolen someone's work i've always given 100% of the costs to the artist that was supposed to do the commission, and i have bills and rent to worry about too...
psa on commission etiquette, please do not do this. if you've done this before, you should change.
