Parts of Delmarva have been upgraded to a level 2 severe risk for this evening. Damaging wind gusts and heavy rain are the primary concerns. Earlier evening storms will be the strongest. Weโll have less risk for high winds after losing daytime heating later in the evening/night.
TORNADO WATCH expanded for all of Delmarva until 7pm. Wind shear (creating spin in the atmosphere) will give any storm a chance to rotate this afternoon.
Getting bad in Rehoboth Beach
Changeover to snow has begun - stay safe this evening and tonight!
Travel should be avoided after sunset Sunday through daybreak Monday!

Not bad!
Quick shot of snow early Sunday morning:
Updated Thunderstorm Risk:
The threat for severe weather remains low, but some lower level wind "shear" (spin in the air) may be enhanced along the warm front Thursday morning. This elevates the risk for an isolated damaging wind or even a brief, weak spin-up tornado.
TONIGHT - THURSDAY:
A warm front will bring milder air into the Mid-Atlantic, allowing for heavier rain to develop. Low pressure will move to our north on Thursday, dragging a cold front through the area with heavy rain and a few storms. Late day clearing is expected.
Plant Watch tonight! Widespread frost is likely away from the beaches.
Coastal flooding at Marinerโs Cove in Long Neck, Delaware.
Flooding at the Ocean City Inlet and Jetty.
Biggest impacts from the Nor'easter will be on Sunday w/ high wind gusts, especially closer to the coast. Isolated power outages + significant tidal flooding and beach erosion. Plenty of rain across the peninsula, with highest amounts near the coast and on the lower shore.
Twilight in Rehoboth.
Jacket Weather: We'll have a bit of a wind chill in some areas Thursday morning! High pressure filling in behind the departing tropical systems will bring a shot of fall air in from Canada. Feels-like temps will dip into the 40s in northern parts of Delmarva.
OCEANS CALLING: Bring a poncho just in case! Rain will be possible later on Saturday and could be heavy at times in the evening in some areas. But we should see a fair amount of dry time this weekend as well, and on Sunday a few showers may be the most action that occurs.
We had perfect weather for the start of the Maryland Folk Festival! Much of the weekend should be fine with cooler temps arriving. A sprinkle or light shower is possible Sunday afternoon, but the chance is low.
This system certainly had the characteristics of a subtropical storm. Chris Kleckner picked up almost 4 inches of rain in Atlantic, VA (Accomack county).
Twilight in Ocean City, MD!

SATURDAY EVENING: A severe thunderstorm watch is up for parts of Delmarva. Storms are expected into the evening ahead of a strong cold front. Damaging wind gusts are the primary risk, but isolated flooding is also possible due to the dry ground from the lack of rain over the past several weeks.
Despite Erin being long gone, the tremendous energy the storm brought through the Atlantic continues to reverberate along our coastline. The rip current risk will be high at all beaches again Sunday. Swimming will be dangerous!
Hurricane Erin churning off the coast this morning.
Cirrus outflow from Hurricane Erin is streaming north over Delmarva.
Tropical Storm Warning now in effect along the Delmarva coastline with Erin passing offshore on Thursday.
ERIN: Tropical Storm Watch for the Maryland beaches Wednesday night-Thursday night. Tropical Storm Warnings for the NC Outer Banks.
Hurricane Erin's area of impact will expand well outside the storm itself. Dangerous seas will affect the Maryland and Delaware beaches this week, peaking on Thursday as Erin makes its closest pass offshore.
