Third Way and Searchlight want to claim the mantle of "popularism."
But talk to voters in swing districts: there's nothing less popular than AI and data centers.
Sign of where things are going on the left: @workingfamilies.org today is unveiling a policy platform for 2026 that includes a federal jobs program designed in part to combat any AI-related job losses

Donald Trump’s threats to annihilate more than 90 million people are vile and reckless. We refuse to stand by while the sitting President of the United States threatens another genocide. Donald Trump must step down or be removed from office, and Congress must immediately return to DC to pass a War Powers Resolution to stop his war crimes in Iran.

"These past several months... we have seen an uptick in discourse looking to discredit protest, along with targeting some of the left’s largest movement leaders and creators."

As the number of people in detention climb, so have the deaths: The 33 fatalities in 2025 were the most in a single year on record since the Department of Homeland Security started operating in March 2003.

“We want him crucified with Christ,” Brooks Potteiger said of Talarico, as the podcast host said he prays “that God kills him.” www.huffpost.com/entry/pete-h...

Rules-based international order is dead. And we’re all left watching Netanyahu and Trump tear up 70+ years of norms designed to prevent mass war and nuclear threats.
It's almost as if getting results and not being a total coward is more important than political moderation.
The entire Democratic strategy debate — "moderate" or move left? fight or compromise? — is based on a misreading of data. Voters don't think Dems are too progressive; they think Dems are weak. The actual math on what to do about this isn't even close!

NEW at Signal Break from @rynnreed.bsky.social:
Fascism can't survive when it's starved. But we have to get serious about how to do that and what it looks like.
To get an idea of how unpopular data centers are, Americans would rather live next to a sports arena.
ICYMI--I wrote on the fragile masculinity of Trump's inner circle and how that contrasts with the supreme self-assurance of Zohran Mamdani.

Democrats want to win back young men but don't understand the first thing about them.
When I finished college 20 yr ago, what I really wanted to do was neighborhood organizing, but I couldn't find any such jobs paying a living wage. Today the situation's much better, but with the Right's $, we're still at a huge disadvantage. That's why for me building out govt capacity/jobs are key.
