#NatureBasedSolutions have their limitations in delibering #ecosystemservices in a warming world. "Dieback would see large numbers of trees die, shifting the lush rainforest into a dry savannah."
自然解方與生態系統服務同樣受到高溫衝擊,當升溫超過1.5度,植物的生理機制亦受影響,難以健康的提供我們所期望的功能。

Interesting combinition of Western Christianity and traditional Tayal beliefs. To enter the village church, we passed under a symbolic gate made of silvergrass and received blessings from tribal elders who swept our backs in a traditional purification ritual.
A rare privilege we had to experience the traditional Tayal song led by the church priest and chief of the tribe to welcome our group to their mountain home. 🎵
Fire symbolizes life for Tayal people and carries several cultural meanings, including signaling a village's location in the mountains. To welcome us, Piyaway residents set a fire using silvergrass (五節芒).
Indigenous peoples are among the most knowledgeable about living with nature in Taiwan. This semester we visited Piyaway indigenous village to explore the unique socio-ecological systems maintained by this remote Tayal village in Taoyuan.

Wow! Happy to know you visited Taipei and enjoyed our urban farms. Some more photos from Xinren community farm for you.
One interesting strategy I heard to cope with heat in parks is: throw people into the pond! 😆
Had a workshop on green spaces & hot weather with @ljmabon.bsky.social at Elderpark Community Centre, Govan, Glasgow. Surprised to see how active the residents are in getting involved in painting, and talking abt green spaces in their neighourhoods and responses to hot weather. #BritishAcademy
