Three years since the UAE-backed RSF unleashed its campaign of terror on the Sudanese people. Three years of a genocide that the world has largely chosen to look away from. The numbers are staggering. Millions forcibly torn from their homes, making this one of the largest displacement crises in recorded history. Hundreds of thousands starved to death as food is weaponized against civilians. Hundreds of healthcare facilities bombed into rubble. Countless women and children subjected to sexual violence as a deliberate instrument of war. And behind it all, the UAE, replenishing the RSF’s weapons, funding its soldiers, and propping up a counterrevolution designed to crush the Sudanese people’s dream of freedom that was born in 2019. This is not a civil war. This is an externally fueled extermination. What makes it even more heartbreaking is the silence. After three years, Sudan barely registers in international headlines. Humanitarian aid is blocked, underfunded, and deprioritized. Donations that could save lives go uncollected. The Sudanese people, resilient, dignified, and unbroken, are being asked to survive on scraps of global attention while enduring one of the worst atrocities of the 21st century. Sudan is not background noise. Her people are not statistics. Long live Sudan and her people. Firm boundaries around time is a relatively new construction of a post-industrial society, mostly, but not entirely, due to trains, and the concept of time is not as immutable as colonists want you to think.
the guy who says sending money directly to people who need it, and asking for money when you need it, is scam behavior? he really wants you to contact your local reps about stuff. calling a phone that never picks up, that’s legit. direct financial aid, that’s a waste of energy. got it.
One of my favorite things about Bluesky (or at least my little corner of it) is that people are always sharing resources for taking action.
