Hello! This question would first need to go to the Department of Metropolitan Development, as they as the "keepers" of the zoning ordinance and are most familiar with Request Indy. If you have concerns, you can email PlannerOnCall@indy.gov.

FYI: There will be no slide schedule on Presidents' Day. Trash and recycling collection will continue as normal. The Department of Public Works (DPW) thanks you for keeping our community clean while we observe the holiday!

❌ MYTH: Spaying or neutering a pet too young will stunt their growth.
✅ FACT: Research shows that spaying or neutering does NOT stunt growth.
Spaying or neutering at the appropriate age, guided by veterinary professionals, is safe & responsible. Let's create a future where every animal is loved!

Thank you to all the residents, business owners, and property managers who have already shoveled, salted, and sweated their way to a clear sidewalk! 🙌💪
Yes, it's sludge.
Snow will likely start melting soon. That means slush (and sludge). But with temps still in the 10s & 20s at night, everything can refreeze. Whether you're a resident or a business, please keep your sidewalks clear of snow and ice. And sludge. 🧂🧂🧂🧂
A groundhog sits on its hind legs outside of its burrow, its mouth open (possibly in surprise).
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow & got scared. And hey, we get it. Shadows can be scary. But #permitting shouldn’t make you want to hide in a burrow. Use the Citizen Access Portal to research, apply and pay for, & track permit status all in one place. aca-prod.accela.com/INDY/Default...
I see @nooj.bsky.social already pointed you in the right direction! Yes, you’ll need to select Zoning violations (that ensures the case comes to us).
Navy blue and red text reads: "Marion County downgraded to a Travel Advisory Status for Jan. 29." The City of Indianapolis logo is included on the announcement.
White and red text reads: "What a Travel Advisory Status Means. Please take extra care traveling on all roadways. There will continue to be a risk for refreezing on streets. Please be aware of the possibility of slick, icy spots on the roads."
⚠️Marion County downgrading Travel Status⚠️
Effective at midnight, Marion County will downgrade to a Travel Advisory Status. Please continue to drive with caution, as there are icy road conditions.
View the updated travel advisory map at www.in.gov/dhs/travel-advisory-map/.
Please be patient as DPW crews continue to work around-the-clock to get the city's entire infrastructure network back to normal as soon as possible. If you think your street has been missed, please contact the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622.
A snow-covered road shows a few tire tracks from cars that have passed through and shows evidence of having been plowed. However, the snow is so deep that there is no pavement showing.
Following this weekend's historic storm, DPW's inspection team is continuing to review the work of contractors. If necessary, contractors may be sent back out for remediation on a case-by-case basis.
It's so cold Netflix just asked us if we were still cold

Great question! We'll look into adding a "snow-covered sidewalks" category. In the meantime, to ensure it reaches us (DBNS), select "Property and Zoning Violations." When it asks you for the nature of your request, select "report a failure to comply with zoning district standards."
Anytime a complaint is made, an inspector will go out and investigate. When it comes to shoveling, we prioritize education over enforcement. A lot of people don't know there's an ordinance! Or, sometimes, the resident is unable to shovel due to age or disability. Then we provide them with resources.
Hello! When someone reports an un-shoveled sidewalk to the Mayor’s Action Center, the case is assigned to a DBNS inspector. When our inspectors respond to complaints, they generally provide educational materials & give verbal warnings. If you have a concern, let us know: request.indy.gov/citizen/s/
You could always go at 12:01 a.m.
REMINDER: Marion County remains in a “Travel Warning” status until midnight tonight. Stay warm, stay home, and stay safe!
To clarify: “double pickup" means that, if residents need to place additional bags outside of their cart, those bags will be picked up as well. 👍🏻
Pickup will resume Wednesday, Jan. 28 and will follow regular pickup days for the rest of this week. We will no longer be on a slide schedule this week.
Monday and Tuesday routes will receive a double pickup on Feb. 2 and 3.
