Have you given many of the current games a try? It can be easy to not care about games until you sink some time into them. Sort of chicken and egg in that regard.

I definitely vibe with the text as well, both with regard to finding reason to play against disparate skill levels, and in finding long sets more enjoyable and less emotionally draining. Might have to give this a read. I like Pat's other writing as well.
I wrote about just war theory and how it applies to the ongoing devastation in the war in Gaza: www.forkingpaths.co/p/just-war-t...
“Once people get a taste for humiliating, they will fight very hard to be able to keep doing it. Like an addiction, the competitively powerful will often put this urge above all else and behave in profoundly self-destructive ways to chase it.” www.liberalcurrents.com/the-politi/
I guess they're going all in on getting attention through association rather than though quality. What's next, the Hawk Tuah girl as Lily? 😆
16 years ago, I found myself in the back garden of a couple I'd just met, as they showed me their pillow fighting arena. The lesson they taught me about games - especially competitive ones - has stayed with me ever since, but I forgot to mention it in interviews when asked if competition is bad. So:

I think there have only been 6:
Level Up Games (Mpls)
Gameworks (MoA)
--pandemic--
DiVanni's (Roseville)
GameZenter
Wisdom Gaming (MoA)
RTM Gaming Lounge
So, since I didn't ever attend one at Level Up Games, I'd say that's the one that doesn't make my top 5.

I'm going to try an experiment on this account.
If you have been to a #fgc event IRL, it could be a tournament or your local scene, post about it here and I'll give you a follow.
I've been a fiend for big tourneys and locals for quite some time. I've been to 4 EVOs including having experienced moment #37, all of the Combo Breakers (one of probably only 3 people), and have attended more of my current local, Run the Mix, than its head TO. I love fighting games and the FGC!
Good to know. Is it for your eyes only?
