Of course, the driver might not have been yielding right-of-way at all, but may just have been checking their TikTok feed. They'll gun it once you're in the impact zone.

None. No measures have been put in place.

Canadians drive the least fuel efficient vehicles in the world. We drive these huge fucking things further than anyone except the US. We drive them mostly alone, carrying just the driver and their phone. We drive them at speeds that make it seem like they're stolen. Gas prices are far too low.

True in one sense, but the pricing is global, and price increases are due to supply interruption.

But it's not a positive thing. Trying to reduce prices in repsonse to a shortage-caused price increase has it exactly backwards. Triple gas taxes and issue rebate cheques. That way, people can benefit from choosing to burn less gas.

Trying to reduce prices to solve a shortage is a little misguided.

100% this.

I can't comment on other people's choices, but I've made many decisions (primarily where I live in relation to my work, and even my choice of jobs) over the course of my life to reduce my dependence on driving. Don't get me wrong, I still drive more than I'd like.

The Incredibles.

Police regularly visit schools to tell children (from a position of unimaginable authority in the minds of young children) that if a driver kills them it will have been their fault. It's evil.

People fill their lives with so much driving. So much driving.

It shocks me that there's any real debate on this. Cars ruin everything, but especially here. See also: Water Street in Vancouver.

You should be anxious. If Hollywood has taught us anything it's that zombies are caused by fungi.

It's a weird (tragic) loophole whereby traffic engineers get a free pass for deadly design oucomes that would have an engineer any other field deregistered and prosecuted for nelgligence.

To be fair though, there's probably nothing wrong with the guns, just as there's nothing wrong with the cars that perform "unintended acceleration". It's always just the users' error.

Cutting gas tax is the most car-brained thing imaginable. Triple gas taxes and provide a general rebate to offset this cost. Respondinding to a shortage by trying to bring down prices is absurd.

"Electricity costs" - Not environmental damage. Electricity costs. No-one really gives a fuck unless it affects them personally and directly. We're fucked, aren't we?

Yes, they were great.

The other revelation moving to discs was just how clean they kept the bike in the rain. Tonnes of clearance for really proper fenders, and no black grinding-dust from the rims.

My bike was a Cannondale T2000 touring bike. Not sure about the "pull" of the levers. I think they were Ultegra.
