You understand there’s more than one definition of ghetto, right?

Better you persuade them than disown them.
Not the best analogy, agreed. But one must consider state sovereignty above the level of a province.
It wasn’t the best analogy, but my point stands that states have sovereignty on a level above provinces in most countries.
Breaking up the EVs by congressional district plus two at large votes per state makes good sense to me.
If that ever comes together, it’ll either unravel once it’s in the spotlight, or face legal challenges both at the federal level and in various states. I wouldn’t count on it.
People on both sides of the aisle will keep buying Teslas. Politics probably don't affect decisions on that level for most people.
I hope @bsky.app makes this a place for robust political discussions. I'd hate to see it become an echo chamber where everyone agrees with everyone else.
The main reason is that the states aren't provinces. They share their sovereignty with the federal government. Should China have more power in the United Nations than the USA because it has a bigger population?
Changing the current system would be nearly impossible. Is it worth the effort that it would require?
I just wish there was a social media site that filtered out the assholes, whether liberal or conservative. I enjoy good discussions and debates... but I hate insults and mean-spirited attacks.
So what's the consensus here? Have an active account on Bluesky, Threads and X? Threads and Bluesky only? Or Bluesky and X only?
Are you prepared to fight a war over the Electoral College?
I wouldn't say it's evil. If it goes my way or goes your way, it's good right? :-) Seriously, though, we're a federal republic. The states elect the president, not individuals. (Although individuals decide who the states vote for.) It's part of what makes the USA the unique creature that it is.
If you're cutting off family and friends over an election, you need to rethink your life. Politicians and elections come and go, but your loved ones are much more important.
You know there's no way the electoral college is going away. May as well make peace with it.
A good man, but not the best presidency, one notable exception being the Camp David accords.
Sounds to me like you could argue this either way: if the credit continues, Tesla would benefit from higher prices. If it ends, other manufacturers may cut production and models, driving more people to buy Teslas. Win-win or no win for Elon, depending on your perspective.
Teslas were eligible for the credit.
I think you're overstating it a bit. America will be OK.
Looking forward to a proper iPad app.
The Jeffersons
FUN FACT: If you grew up watching The Jeffersons, you may remember the name of one of George Jefferson's biggest dry-cleaning competitors: Blue Sky Cleaners. (The other one was Cunningham Cleaners.)
Are there any conservatives or moderates on Bluesky, or only disaffected progressives?
Here's how to fix CNN:
1. Get rid of all "stars." The news is the star.
2. Hire actual reporters, build a culture of fairness and objectivity, and let them do their jobs.
3. Air mostly news, some analysis, little to no opinion.
4. Program for social media, not just cable.
To be fair, some of the people over here complaining about the toxicity on X contributed to that vibe.
I understand why Bluesky is probably going to skew left, but I hope it doesn’t become a progressive ghetto with no moderates or conservatives.
I guess X is the Fox News of social media apps now, and Bluesky is MSNBC. Does that make Threads CNN? I’m going to try to use all three. Echo chambers are boring.
When are Bluesky and Threads going to get proper iPad apps?
Greetings everyone. The social media landscape continues to change. Not a bad thing, I suppose. Competition brings innovation! I'm looking forward to trying out some of these alternatives. Hope to connect with many of you!
