how many otherwise probably normal people just on this little website alone are here to: tell you that expecting things from politicians is being a petulant child; ask how you propose we pay for your ponies and unicorns you want (e.g., health care); blame you for the unchecked cruelty of our elites

Heavy feelings of 2008 where there's an implicit assumption that a dem admin will bail them out if things ever get biblical for the money people
i hate that i have to spend so much time thinking about politics (local/state/federal) but as a country we have slacked off on that for far too long. it's a lot of work, so most people just pick a party to support and be done with it, and that's exactly how we got here.
it's not that much to ask
mw if you say "more like FDR please" (meaning 'a rescue plan to help the whole country') some well-trained shitlib autoreplies w "oh so you want to bring back JAPANESE INTERNMENT CAMPS??? 🤨"
no you mf, i want an FDR 2.0--light socialism, trustbusting, nationalized hc & a shrinking MIC budget.
even our best retail politicians don't have adequate language for defending the idea of "we are going to recapture a material portion of the economic output of our nation's people and turn it into roads and electricity and retirement security and health care for those same people, who are, btw, us"
Asking every candidate to sit with the question of "what do you think 'government' and 'the economy' are for exactly"
it might have been an interview he gave after his book American Fascists (2007) came out. i know it was a long time ago that i listened to it.
i remember Chris Hedges doing a whole thing about it (and their targeting of state legislatures) well over a decade ago. it's been well understood.
i (and i suspect most people) would like a nonpartisan, mathematical formula to redraw districts post-census & i'm pretty sure one exists already.
It's good people got properly skeptical anyway but tracking unanimous consent last year really clarified for me how much we all live in a fake fantasyland controlled by politicians who make up pretend stories about how things actually work.
This is one of these things I can type out and shout till I'm blue in the face and it is indisputably true but also it is not covered anywhere so people do not believe it.
but they long to reveal themselves which is why they seek political power. they don't think they should have to slink in the shadows like hte Bad People they've convinced themselves they aren't.
better out than in, i say.
My most liberal idpol radlib take is that I think it's pretty bad that
right wing forces are actively intervening on behalf of the Klan with the full weight of the state legal apparatus
you can't even just open a fcking PDF in their reader anymore without this nonsense
it's me, i'm the cynic (because that's a very common gambit for these folks)
what the hell was that even supposed to be? accurate alt, ty
it's not like i trust the democrats to use the power they're given to represent their base but i've had enough of the dainty refusal to fight fire with fire so i'm gonna spend my time figuring out how to help get better dems elected in those districts
gonna be a hard slog as it always is in VA
surely it was not the result of own-dick-stepping, it must be the fault of this fabricated menace i like to constantly work myself up with
big stretch to pretend that ~300K federal 'layoffs' in localities where a lot of those workers live don't have anything to do with it
Virginia lifted truck owners with blinding LED lights excited to angrily rant even more about "elite" middle class government workers in NoVA who drive old Hondas
i want an opposition party that both fights for the things their base actually wants and, you know, OPPOSES the other guys. if we can't get that we need to destroy the "2 party system".
back door way to take redistricting away from the legislature and give power to the conservative VA supreme court. so i consider the D 'power grab' fair play.
bipartisanship w the GOP is like voluntarily sharing custody w your child's abuser.
gerrymandering has been a long term strategy of the GOP and it's one of the ways they've managed to maintain tight margins in congress despite having policies that are repellent to a majority of americans. they pulled a fast one on VA in 2020 with a 'bipartisan redistricting commission' that was a +

thank you for reminding me of that. needed to watch it again... always feel fire coming up through me from the earth when i see and hear a haka, and this one had a lightening bolt attached.

we all know I have no life, so:
Alright, I’m home now so here’s the Norm update. Yesterday at 4pm, I got a text from a family I’ve been helping who had a loved one abducted a couple of days after Renée Good’s murder. This was the family that Norm Nation kept from being evicted (and you delivered). ICE had released their loved one.
well i was in the middle of a document (driving on a crowded highway) so i'll do that as soon as i'm done with this. also did i mention this is windows vista
