Last year I overpaid city taxes by 5 cents. This year? 12 cents.
To tax professionals it appears a foolish error, but this is all part of my long con to get our mayor on MTGO playing Penny Dreadful
Today, @vorthosjay.bsky.social is here to tell us all about the all-over-the-place history of Magic story publishing. From HarperPrism to the NYT bestseller list (yesterday!!!), it's been quite the ride.

Would you believe us if we said that a @vorthosjay.bsky.social piece on the history of Magic story publishing was already scheduled for today? You better, because it's true! Going live at 10am eastern, as always. :)
If I come over can you live translate for me

i think this is the feeling when you're new, and then you go through a period of optimizing (which is really fun in its own way) because you see the intricacies of the game and its systems, and then after a while you go back to the beginning of "i like this card so i'm gonna play it"
This piece explores the psychology behind using random selection when determining game actions in edh. Our desire to blame the dice for our actions instead of attacking with threat assessment, etc.
I draw a lot from Roy Baumeister's "social psychology" and our desires to be seen as good by all.

It's Tuesday. Have you had your CASCADE CASCADE yet?
@mtgcritical.bsky.social debuts with a great piece about what draws us to chaos in a game that so often thrives on predictability
James was one of my first cheerleaders when I got deep into Magic writing, and work like this makes me say that all the more proudly. READ
the most unexpected thing for working for a Boston-based company is that I get Patriots Day off as a company holiday
The end was pretty uninspiring to watch. I do think we had one or two guys playing pretty hurt (in addition to two of our better players going out for the year right before the losing streak) but I wouldn't doubt it if the guys just gave up. Team has a losing culture for a while now
The Blue Jackets were 21-11-5 under Rick Bowness, but they ended the season with just three wins in their final 13 games, including a six-game (0-5-1) home losing streak, to fall out of a playoff spot.
I finally have a site where you can purchase prints of my work. The galleries are a work in progress as I need to remake some images without watermarks and have a backlog to edit
But here you go!
