Finally, we’re proud to support the People Over Parking Act, that eliminates parking minimums near public transit hubs. Both residential and commercial developments are hamstrung by burdensome parking requirements, especially in areas already well-connected with transit.

The second is the Local Accessory Dwelling Units Act. This greatly expands the rights of Illinoisans to build additional housing units on their property. These additional units help families live closer together, alleviate high housing costs, and provide greater freedoms to homeowners.

The first bill, the Affordable Communities Act, stops municipalities like Chicago from using onerous regulations or fees to prevent the development of 2-8 unit buildings. No more making developers jump through hoops to build housing that’s already allowed by law.
