I worry that the focus on the mistakes or hallucinations of AI will end up backfiring as this technology inevitably gets more accurate. The issue for me is less one of accuracy and more of not wanting to cede human decision making to a disembodied algorithm with no moral compass.

Great paper! Very depressing data though..
What the machine learning analysis doesn't show, however, is context and the hidden agendas behind seemingly 'positive' narratives even by Labour. And that there can be positive/negative narratives too.
In this chapter we draw on 410 personal experience narratives to pin down the structural and discursive characteristics of the 'positive migrant storytelling canon' that dominates UK migrant advocacy. The book is free to download!
British dual citizens are not a homogeneous group, and their different constituent parts are affected differently by the new UK passport rules — changes whose wider consequences the government does not appear to have fully appreciated, @nandosigona.bsky.social writes for @theconversation.com

Happy to have a chapter in this newly published book on gender-inclusive language. With a great team of Greek colleagues, we review the belated awakening of nonsexist language policy in Greek and its lack of uptake in public discourse.

Happy New Year to all researchers who continue to believe that reading and thinking (and that writing is itself a process of thinking things through) are vital to critical analysis!
