I've reached "conflict with Iran" plotlines

Thing is, they were in fact forward-thinking enough to be like "okay but do you actually think anyone will care? Really? Where do you think this is all headed?" It's impressive compared to when Jonah shouts "I AM THE FUTURE OF NEWS MEDIA" on VEEP and it's treated as a joke when, checks notes,

Watched Three Days of the Condor last year and it ends with Redford saying "I'm gonna expose you for doing murders to cover up that you were just invading the middle east because of oil" and the bad guy is like "tbh do you think the New York Times will care?" Cut to credits. And like... bruh...

Rewatching VEEP and it's fucking crazy how much of a period piece it has become. Every single episode hinges on some scandal that it is impossible to imagine anyone giving a shit about today.
