Elbows up, Canada!
Science friends!
Many of you, alarmed by grant funding cuts that make expensive field ecology research difficult or impossible, have been thinking about what to do instead. Great idea.
Some of you have been saying "I'll just do some social science surveys," without learning how. Bad idea! 🧵🧪
Hey Canada, we should all listen to this interview.

Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.
It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! 🧪🌎

Fascinating new paper out in @nature.com on the importance of Small Scale Fisheries. Lots of great information on catch, nutrition, livelihoods, etc. The #sharkscience factoid I found was that only 0.2% of the SSF catch is sharks, rays or chimaerans.

Awesome list. Could you add me? I work on marine fisheries and conservation. Thanks!

Hey Folks,
I was a bit of a late adopter here, but have finally jumped the Twitter ship and am now blue skying. I look forward to reconnecting with old peeps and connecting with lots of new ones.
Stylized tree of life diagram that demonstrates the range of useful chemical data that can be extracted from 19 classes of organisms.
Brand new review paper that sums up the thing I do. In short, there is a whole lot of overlooked chemical data ready and waiting inside aquatic taxa that can be used to monitor the environment and support species and ecosystem health.
