"Border czar–designee Tom Homan is clearly the right guy to implement President-elect Donald Trump’s ambitious deportation plans. But there’s one obstacle that’s out of his control. What to do with all the Venezuelans he’s going to arrest?"

Apart from anything else, if/when there is an amnesty, part of it must be a ceremonial, public admission of guilt by the illegal aliens, an acknowledgement they are receiving an undeserved act of grace from the American people, followed by absolution. The sense of entitlement is a huge obstacle.
"the best strategy for a sanctuary city or state that wants to prevent run-of-the-mill illegal aliens from getting caught up in an ICE dragnet? Let ICE into your jails and prisons and keep them busy processing criminals!"

"The most basic thing to note about Trump’s threat, though, is that it’s the first time an official of the U.S. government — or a soon-to-be government official — has sounded appropriately outraged and harsh about an ongoing crime perpetrated against our fellow citizens."

If the immigration groups were willing to consider moving up the 245i date in exchange for, say, eliminating the Visa Lottery and fixing TVPRA and Flores, we might be able to make progress. No such luck.
The Daniel Penny case didn’t turn out the way the Left’s racial obsessives — such as Jamaal Bowman — hoped.

This is WaPo's idea of a columnist who "provides insight into the conservative movement"? There's no shame in being a liberal Democrat -- just don't pretend to have insights you lack.
The CHNV program (which allows inadmissible aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua & Venezuela schedule their illegal entries by air) is a shadow of its former self -- but why does it still exist at all?

I don't see why people get so worked up about Daylight Savings Time. It's nice to have extra daylight after work in the summer & back to standard time in the winter so kids aren't going to school in the dark. OTOH, if we got rid of it, it wouldn't that big a deal either.

And rightly so.
“The argument we’re seeing now against a ‘mass deportation’ is, basically, once you get into the United States, you have the right to remain permanently...The other side needs to explain: Why should certain people be above the law?"

They're not exact parallels, but our client regime in Afghanistan couldn't sustain itself & collapsed unexpectedly overnight, & now the same with Iran/Russia's client regime in Syria. Neither is replaced by democracy, but successor regimes may be more suited to their societies, in good & bad ways.
