Do Your Dreams Still Chase You? is a song about the quiet yet profound moments that happen at the edges of life. We created a story about lost passions and the space we make for creativity in our lives. It will be available from 31st Jan on Bandcamp.
When was the last time a lyric truly stopped you in your tracks? For me, it was this: "The nowness of the moment conceals its own demise." It’s one of those lines that lingers long after the song ends. It was written by Shane Young, who collaborates with George Moorey to form the incredible band The Powdered Earth. After hearing it, I couldn’t resist reaching out to Shane. I’d been playing around with a chord sequence that felt full of potential, and I knew we could create something special together. The result is Do Your Dreams Still Chase You?, the first track from our new musical project, HatShop. And of course, there’s a story behind it...
Over the years, at various places I've come across posters, business cards, leaflets left by musicians advertising their businesses. One that stands out to me is of a guy called Joe who'd left his business card on the notice board of a key cutting shop in Redcar. It must've been old because the sun had bleached the colours. Another time, at Sheffield 02 before soundcheck I came across a stack of old posters dating back years. They all featured artists who had played there. I still wonder what happened to these people. Are they still making music? Has life diverted them from their passions? To all the Joe's out there, I hope there's still a space in your life for music making.
Brand new music project, brand new track available from 31st January on Bandcamp.
