Pitfalls (or, I Played All The Pitfall Games)
Pitfalls (or, I Played All The Pitfall Games) YouTube video by Hollandspiele

When I started this project, I thought there were nine Pitfall games. I was wrong.

A history of the surprising number of Pitfall games, the people who made them, and the company that kept deciding what the world really wanted was a new Pitfall game.

Profile of the nose section of a B-17 bomber painted in olive drab and gray. Under the cockpit is a painting of a pinup-style lady who happens to have a guillotine for a torso. There are arms in the sleeves of a military jacket extending from the sides of the guillotine frame, one is holding an empty basket and the other is saluting. Below the hole where heads go sides wearing a short, pleated, olive drab skirt and her legs, covered in gartered nylons are curled up under her. A discarded crown is upside down behind her. In front of her across the nose is text reading ‘Maybe it will happen today’. Much of the rest of the nose is covered in mission markers but instead of bombs they are small images of guillotines.

True! Fun fact: They did this because someone leaked Robert Bork’s rental history during his confirmation battle.

Buy a bunch of Disney DVDs, buy a DVD drive, set up Arch Linux, rip all your DVDs with MKV and compress them with Handbrake, install Jellyfin and set up your own Disney+. Then set your house on fire and walk into the woods, you are free.

Yeah and YouTube is making money hand over fist, so it's also possible that this is just an experiment in more targeted advertising. I wonder if YouTube and TikTok have gotten more expensive too...

Which they're not wrong about! Yes they are flushing money in the toilet, but if they do an ad buy in tv they are also doing that. Broadcast television is pretty dead.

We had a series of projects named after Swedish DJs. I liked that scheme.

This is a cartoon that will be absolutely incomprehensible in about a month because about a billion dumber news stories will have memory holed the context. I hate this timeline.

And traditional media would have sat on it till after the primary if there hadn't had a drumbeat of pressure. George Santos happened because the big New York media didn't bother to check on him till after the election even though The North Shore Leader had reported it!

Stephen Fry's "Secret Life of a Manic Depressive" might be a little too raw, but if you can find the clip of Richard Dreyfuss he has a good explanation of what his experience with it was.

It's peregrine nesting season again, and the Torrey Pines north pair are back at it again. The female is enforcing the "No Pelicans" clause of her NOA* to great effect, as she does every year.
