Green aurora lights up the night sky in snowy Alaska. The light is defused by clouds and even the ground is bathed in green.

This aurora activity took everyone by surprise when it flared up. Most of us were running time-lapse setups, but I was close enough to my camera to change the exposure to avoid the shots being overexposed. It is remarkably beautiful there. I rode the ferry out of North Sydney to Port aux Basques and then drove all the way to St. John's and back. Everywhere I went I was in awe. I tell everyone to visit!
