that is true, but I fight for the most advantageous of bargains!

I absolutely love this.

Unfortunately I might put antiquarian bookshops out of business if they had to give me discount…

This is pure gold. 😍

wtf is ‘ontological erotica’ when it’s at home? I mean, I know what both words means, but can’t compute the result!

And I remember the passage now; I like that Old Testament parable!

At least that might have a fruity end! I was clearing the bottom of the garden where we will have a new fence, and discovered gigantic roots of another neighbour’s Elder tree! She is not on speaking terms with anyone,so I had to just hack away at them, and pray that will maybe shrink the plant!

I don’t have very many words for this. Those who say Covid was a hoax desecrate the memory of the dead, and the ardour of the living. One can only wish for correction and justice (not ours Lord, but yours).

okey-dokey! Sorry; I didn’t mean to put you on the spot there. I was just trying to work out whether to read it! 😅

I saw it advertised on Facebook. I wasn’t sure about it. With my church being not-established, can you speak of its relevance then?

a bit teed off at work these days. Despite being 25 years in the same organisation: ⬇️

There’s an advert for an Administrator at the Cathedral. If it weren’t part-time, I’d make the money work…

some bad AI Slop this morning. Characters of Stand By Me greeting their older selves (incl. dear departed River Phoenix). Headline was "Only 90s Kids Will Remember This".

Except they won't. Too young. Stand By Me came out 1986.

Not AI's fault. This is vid gen for monetisation by ignorant persons.

Yes, I would love to say she is just fluffy, but when our madame’s nickname is “Mrs Fattypants”, there must be some truth.

Although she’s part Maine Coon and the vet had to “groom” her for something. She suddenly looks a few shoe sizes smaller!

that is glorious! I never really knew either of my grandfathers, but those are powerful images. ❤️

and oak? That's interesting. A love of strong old trees?

But it never believed in that! The RCC never even obeyed JP II’s sometimes overly philosophical treatise on ecumenism, Ut Unum Sint (1995).

But yeah, “sometimes often”? The best kind of often! 😉

I resonate with that too.

I was born an Anglican, am an Anglican again, but still consider myself a Catholic (just sundered for particular, and not all obvious reasons).

Even weirder when my app is set up to demand alt text, and won’t post without it!

Holy Communion signifies the relationship/communion that we have with the other members of our church. If we don’t all believe the same thing, then that gets tricky (at least from a catholic, orthodox or “high church“ Anglican pov).

But then other Anglicans just allow it and say God knows better! 🤭

Sorry don’t know where that weird image is coming from

See, I really like that! In my head, I had this idea that let’s say you had a Catholic church and an Anglican church in same town, they could pray Vespers/Evening Prayer together. Too many shared important days go unmarked, if working, can’t attend daily Mass etc. The Office needs to be resurrected!

I really didn’t want to say, but the one denomination always absent from ecumenical events or functions is the Catholic Church. It’s understandable theologically, given that she views the rest as merely “ecclesial communities“ but that is reputationally damaging. And it might not be true! (for some)

Major issues continue to hold us apart (I mean all denominations), but there’s practical stuff that could draw us closer together – ideas:
calendar co-ordination (incl. Orthodox!),
everyone join umbrella orgs,
*lots* more joint prayer (e.g. LotH),
poverty relief,
emphasise unexpected common beliefs.

Despite being Anglican, part of me will forever be Catholic, and that bit has been done proud by Pope Leo. He speaks the truth, unvarnished and real (yet without malice or favours).

I still pray for Christian unification. 🙏

Ah yes, I know exactly that feeling. I always like precisely the first half of his poems.

Hope you’re well. A belated Happy Easter (Happy Octave-and-a-Day?).

Larkin was quite perceptive!

This is how I find myself often: misunderstood, and misunderstanding.

might need a break from here.

Too many plates to spin. And too many mis-communications. 😢

Oh yes, we have a nice online website too. But yeah, the three books thing is a little annoying.

I’d like to privately reprint Daily Prayer, the lectionary, and the Collects all in one volume, but it would be a whale over 500 pages, and expensive! (DP is spiralbound currently, yuck.)

It’s very interesting, and working with data having different characteristics I can really appreciate the issues there! Also makes me think of all the times bosses want mean averages when median averages will work better.

Vance: Tehran did not accept Washington’s terms.

Says the aggressor. What a bellicose Administration. Who else are they gonna effectively declare war on?

Exsqueeze me, but what a d1ck… I LOVE neighbourhoods like that. They are so interesting and vibrant. So much to learn, share and rejoice in. Heavens, much nicer than white, Anglo-Saxon prison land…
