Yes totally agree with you - that’s why we can buy American chicken thighs in West Africa cheaper than I can in US. It’s created dependency and undercut local markets. I also don’t have all the answers but know we can raise animals better for the people & planet
I think it’s important to not underemphasize the role of meat for healthy diets in resource poor areas. Even small levels of animal source food consumption helps prevent epidemic levels of stunting malnutrition and iron deficiency anemia. We need animals in food systems - how do we produce better?
