I fact checked Claude a couple times and now it's really tip-toeing around me.

Just do amnesty.
Even during the "ceasefire", the Israelis are still demolishing entire villages in southern Lebanon with armored bulldozers. In fact, civilian contractors hired by the army receive pay which is based on the number of buildings destroyed.
Schumer voted against blocking the sale of these bulldozers.
If Mamdani had gone to the Met gala we’d have gotten something about his attendance being at odds with his politics.

Have psychiatrists studied listening to Better Son or Daughter 20-30 times in a row real loud as a therapy for anxiety and depression cause I think I might be onto something here
Well the Iran war is over and all the people who were salivating to do it for 20 years accomplished... [checks notes] hm they accomplished... [frantically searching]... I guess they killed a bunch of kids and strengthened the hand of the oppressive Iranian regime?
It’s actually crazy how much better fake chicken is than real chicken.
There‘s chewy gristle in your meat? Why? Sometimes it has cysts? It turns Weird colors? Couldn’t be me man.
Hot take: meat is disgusting and vegan meat is better by like a factor of 3.
It's crazy how much time we spend talking about authenticity or whatever in politicians and then Trump just wanders through and is like "What's a hoagie? I only shit on solid gold toilets."
It's a good reminder that a lot of dumb, infuriating right-wing media is basically just an op by billionaires.
I don't have access to like, the good website trackers, but just out of curiosity, I looked up theFPs traffic and compared to Jezebel. As I was doing it I was thinking "well of course they're going to crush Jez, people barely know Jez still exists" and folks, they get 30% more traffic than Jez.
“During the Great Recession and in the covid-19 pandemic especially, Keynesian interventions—government spending—proved enormously effective.
And yet, in spite of all the evidence, the political battle continues”
I'm not necessarily going to bat for Anna's here but it's fucking WILD that companies will scream bloody murder to the tune of $millions when my work is scraped for archiving, but startups get funded to the tune of $millions when they're scraping my work for LLMs.

This looks amazing. Guile's hair is worth the price of admission alone.
we'd be better off culturally if the media treated comedians as clowns -- which is to actually appreciate the craft they are trying to hone -- rather than intellectual luminaries with profound insight into subjects that, in reality, they could not land an entry-level job covering.
that's 0.5 percent, so like 1000 times the background rate now? one hundred thousand percent greater lol
Toilet vs metal tank seems a little unfair. There needs to be weight classes for this or something (but like, rigidity or hardness classes)
Are you in a recession if GDP shrinks because your population is shrinking? Asking for a friend (the U.S. economy)
I agree actually! The puzzle is why/how did people's model of the world change? We have some arguing that there really is material deterioration and we're just looking at the hard data indicators and then others arguing that people are just reacting differently to similar material conditions.
What does he think managers do lol
I think it was an brain-breaking amount of media coverage. But it's a very hard question empirically.
This is the right way to be thinking at least - something happened that changed how people mentally process inflation and it has upended the relationship we saw before 2020.
Claude 😬
Some funder needs to give the Venetoulis Institute a bajillion dollars. Funders always say they're going to tackle the media problem and they never do. Here's a working model. Just fund it!
It won't generalize back in time. Bernstein's cumulative inflation suggestion doesn't work in the 80s. People changed how they process and think about inflation, and that's showing up in your UMich variable, but it's not really an explanation of -why- people started processing inflation differently.
@thebaltimorebanner.com is great, congrats to Pittsburgh.
I agree - coverage volume started to decline and sentiment still cratered. Tariff coverage might be part of the answer (very negative), but lots of residual still left over. Maybe I'll fire up my scraper and get more NYT data later this week.
The count alone didn't do much, the cumulative does. I don't know if this is actually the answer. But I need people to realize that inflation coverage wasn't just negative. It was an overwhelming volume of coverage. Inflation has never been covered before like it was during covid.
