review of mobile suit gundam wing. "A show where absolutely no one acts even remotely sane. What I would call wing is overloaded. It starts off with an espionage focus and vibe that gives particularly the first 20 or so episodes a unique appeal. it made me think of something like "FFVIII but with mechs," which was super cool and I was really into it... but after that it mostly becomes the traditional gundam war narrative. It’s not bad at all, but I found it less enjoyable than the first chunk. There's like a billion factions that keep changing positions constantly and it was hard to follow? Part of it is on me but it really does jump around quite often. Nobody in this series acts like a human being though this kind of thing doesn't really bother me personally. Everyone is basically a nutjob and the teenagers might as well be indistinct from the adults. In a sense it could be like some sort of reflection of how war makes us completely irrational, or something. In spite of all this i still had a decent time. I think wing is very strong aesthetically, and the cast (especially the girls, i love relena, noin, and une) has some really good picks. I understand that nowadays a lot of people have a gut negative reaction to Wing because of Toonami millennial elitism, but I don't find it bad at all and think it's a perfectly solid AU. This shouldn't have been 50 episodes though christ lmao"
