I strongly believe that media literacy and how we teach people to use the Internet is part of the negative shift. You need the separation of creator and fandom. Fan work and morals and so forth. Just because something goes against your idea of ok doesn't mean you need to rally cry out to destroy it

As a sub culture grows and becomes a major cultural entity you see these shifts. It's just interesting that the two sets of anime generational fans are now more documented than ever before allowing us to view the clear divide.

We have a disconnect now with how we view each other on the Internet. Even just a decade or two ago people treated fan works and the creation of things as well it's not my thing but respect to those putting in the time and energy. Not saying the bad wasn't there but it was harder

Like I noticed this like a decade ago in fandom spaces. The shift of fandom going from harder to find spaces to public easily searchable has created a lot of hive mind and weird social norms
