The holiest day on the modern Pagan Wheel of the Year is rapidly approaching and I’m in no mood to celebrate. But I’m going to celebrate anyway. Because at Samhain – especially this Samhain – we need to remember who we are.

*bangs head against wall repeatedly*
Two things can be true at once. We can hate gun violence, and not wish it on anyone. And, we can be without sympathy or empathy for someone who used their pulpit and influence to stoke division, glory in the suffering of others, attack our values, and fan the flames of intolerance.

US State Department post on X outlining Christianity at the forefront of US policy.
Theocracy is upon us.
Good morning, lovelies. Here is one of your periodic reminders from the friendly neighborhood witch: hope is a practice. It is a series of decisions and actions that cause an outcome in terms of outlook and mindset. Hope is a seed we plant, tend, nurture, and whose fruit we eventually harvest. (1/8)
When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you dont blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. That is my experience.

(I am revisiting some quotes in my journals)
“When we judge people in shame, we reinforce their sense of isolation, not their sense of connection.”

Thinking is difficult, that’s why most people judge— Carl Jung
NYTimes Headline showing that the administration is defying judicial rulings.
Here is another example, the administration doesn't care what the judicial has to say, it's a dare. "Make me! You don't have any power to enforce your rulings!"
“His absence is like the sky, spread over everything.”

Cory Booker has just broken Strom Thurmond's record for longest Senate filibuster ever, which stood for 68 years.
Thurmond set it objecting to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
Booker set it arguing against authoritarianism.
May Strom's name be forgotten and his memory erased.

I see you. I honor you. Today and everyday, I stand with you 🏳️⚧
I learned this week that you can put our troops' lives in danger, compromise our national security, and violate the Espionage Act. And the government will do nothing.
But if you write an editorial for your school newspaper that Trump doesn't like, you will be abducted on the street and disappeared.
Why did the comma break up with the apostrophe?
It was too possessive.
For Pratchett - the Hogfather and also the Amazing Maurice and his educated Rodents.
As for Tolkien - I just want to say all of them 😂
For Ivo - Casting Sacred Space and Spirit Speak were exactly what I needed at the time and still inform a lot of what I do.
For Christopher - The inner temple of witchcraft and the witches shield both gave me my start and foundation in witchcraft practices as a whole. That start was huge for me.
Seconding Ursula K. LeGuin.
For Irene - Her blog posts on labyrinth walking on her first blog along with I believe is was a sermon on “Speaking the Mystery”. I’ll have to find it on YouTube. I remember for the first time in a long time not feeling alone after listening to it.
I just have too many I want to list 😂
Irene’s blogs (both her former and current one) and UU sermons she has written really formed me I think in a lot of ways over the years. And agreed about the Blackfeather Mystery School Book.
Who are the five writers that made you?
JRR Tolkien
Terry Pratchett
Irene Glasse
Ivo Dominguez Jr.
Christopher Penczak
THERE ARE SOOOOO MANY MORE THOUGH…
Honorable mentions:
Jane Austin, Natsuki Takaya and Brené Brown.
You can be the best, ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be someone who hates peaches 😕
