What is wild is George still had at least another decade of pitching left in him.

It didn't explicitly say. It was in the context of the upcoming World Baseball League that was trying to get off the ground. They assumed he would be the first signing.
A blurb in the Sporting News referred to George Brunet as, "the white Satchel Paige," in 1974. I don't know to what extent I agree with this. What do you think?
It isn't everyday you can Zoom with someone who has at least 536 Home runs!
In baseball card circles, this card is considered a common. His career is certainly not common. I checked my spreadsheet and so far, he is the only pitcher outside of barnstorming to start 1000 games as a professional. There may be others if I could find all the data, but what a stat!

Garret was best known for his time with the Angels, but he also had an extensive minor league career. Adding everything up, he has 3185 hits, 658 doubles and 1720 RBI as a professional.
RIP Garret Anderson (1972-2026)
Yesterday was the start of the LMB and Robinson Cano is back for his age 43 season. He celebrated by picking up two more hits and the Diablos Rojos won.

Johnny Damon never played winter ball, as far as I know, but did play enough summer ball to accumulate at least 3354 professional hits including 3 in the WBC qualifier for Thailand.
Thats all right. I didn't need to hit the ball anyway.
Our team comes up with a lot of great ideas.
If you are ever playing Immaculate Grid and "mentioned in an Jeff Foxworthy joke" is paired with "sub 2.00 ERA in LVBP" then here is your guy.
Happy birthday Greg Maddux!
And don't forget, we do not have the post season stats for him in the winter or summer leagues.
Cal Ripken was one of the great players of the last 50 years and is revered in Baltimore. Did you know he spent two winters in Puerto Rico playing for Caguas? Between the regular season and playoffs he added 131 hits and 16 home runs.
3815 H
504 HR
2036 RBI
Paige, would fill a big gap in my HOF collection.
Vic is one of those players where the MLB doesn't tell the full story, which is why I enjoy doing this research.
4133 hits
Pops is known for his time in Pittsburgh. In 1963-64 he played for Aguilas Cibaeñas in LIDOM where he hit .314 with 8 home runs in 56 games and an additional home run in the finals. Some of his teammates that winter included Julian Javier and Dock Ellis.
If you are ever playing Immaculate Grid and "mentioned in an Adam Sandler song" is paired with "hit .300 in LVBP" then here is your guy.
Brooksie is synonymous with Baltimore, of course. What I found intriguing is his two winter league seasons. He played for the Willard Blues in Colombia in 1955-56, where all i have is his 45 hits/143 AB. He also played for Cienfuegos in Cuba in 1957-58 as the Castro revolution began.
3355 pro hits
Over 900 saves on this card.
If I remember right, Brooks said he trimmed the bill of his batting helmet so he could see the ball better as it came in.
Terms like icon and legend are thrown around a lot, but Hank Aaron was all of that and more.
Also, check out these cards!!
This is really neat!
Will this be the 2027 Topps Jorge Soler?
Reds Icon!
My most recent card, 2019 SCC KBO Son Ah-seop #cardsky
This is a football score, not likely a NFL score, but certainly a CFL score.
Between his time in the AL, minor leagues, the LVBP and the Occidental Winter League, Aparicio had at least 3,762 professional hits.
It is so much fun to listen to him play baseball.
