“Kiyoshi Kurosawa samurai murder mystery” is my personal sleeper agent activation phrase
there's obviously a Paranormal Activity comparison to be made with these campaigns ("call your local theaters!"), but the difference is that Paranormal's happened AFTER a studio pickup - with TADC and Iron Lung, those campaigns are the REASON they're getting such big releases
theatrical distribution can not only exist in the US outside of the studio market, but can thrive. that's a pretty big deal as far as I'm concerned
it's obviously weird calling a $4 million video game adaptation and a Fathom Events release of a webseries "indie films" but one of them's box office dynamite and the other's already crashing ticket sales sites - somebody's gotta start talking about this
I cannot be the only one who thinks that this and Iron Lung are an insane sea change in the film industry
maybe the kids will be alright after all
Angine de Poitrine is the first time in years where my tastes in music have lined up with the zeitgeist so you better believe I will be riding this trend into the ground

major thanks to @2mello.net for turning me onto ZEP - fantastic mix of techno/post-punk/hip-hop that I'm gonna have stuck in my head for weeks
maybe the best ending of an X-Files episode, at least for me
this is the only trailer we should be talking about this morning
Y’all are gonna want to check this out - Mark’s work rules, and it’s more than worth supporting
the Steel Ball Run is a cross-country horse race whose participants include “a guy in a car“ and “a guy running the whole race on foot”, which makes it the most realistic depiction of late 1800s sporting events in TV history
any parallels to the Ramones cover are, I assure you, fully intended
new headshot dropped for the first time in 6+ years
definitely counts! can’t argue with a Richard Thompson pick
there is an entire playlist to be made of “this person is obviously a psychopath but it’s fiiiiiiiine”
fairly certain that “Excitable Boy” by Warren Zevon, “Sweet and Tender Hooligan” by the Smiths and “Only A Lad” by Oingo Boingo consitute their own weirdo little subgenre of rock
the Kudo Method will return the galaxy to normal
