Thanks to everyone that shared their thoughts and priorities at the D1 Budget Open House. This was another opportunity to engage with the City’s budget, and not the last.

The Mayor has shared his Recommended Budget and I'll be showing you how to sign up to testify. Stay tuned! Your voice is needed.

lol...that's funny given that it was Councilor Smith who chose to make her OWN district office without Councilors Dunphy and I. So it sounds like you should direct your ire at Smith, not me.

Thanks, have a great day.

It's important for Portlanders to see what @counciloravalos.bsky.social said during the Council meeting on Wednesday night about taking a system-based approach to equity. It was truly an extraordinary statement (complimentary): www.youtube.com/live/4J-Kh2h...

Yesterday, Council passed the Transportation Utility Fee (TUF) ordinance out of committee. I didn’t take my vote lightly - and I want you to hear why. I’ll keep pushing for more progressive revenue options that don’t put the burden on working-class Portlanders to fix a structural deficit.

Utility fee for road upkeep passes Portland City Council committee: 'The alternative is to let the city die' If passed by the council during a regular meeting, Portlanders will soon be paying a flat fee on their utility bills to keep city roads from falling apart.

"I've consistently heard concerns, especially from renters and low-income households about affordability and whether they will be able to access the same level of assistance as homeowners," said Councilor Candace Avalos, who championed the change. "This amendment is intended to address that gap."

In the last few years, we’ve built a coalition, presented at neighborhood association meetings, used state housing process levers, and gotten incredible housing champions elected: @councilormorillo.bsky.social @counciloravalos.bsky.social @councilorgreen.bsky.social @councilorkanal.bsky.social

@counciloravalos.bsky.social has a deep, long-standing track record of showing up for Black communities in Portland. From grassroots organizing to her work in City Hall, her advocacy has consistently centered on racial justice and economic equity. Smith was out of line.

The Fair Housing Month Proclamation is an ode to a policy created to stop discrimination in housing. There is no community where there is exclusion. As the H&P chair, I'm committed to equity and accessibility, because like Amoi Calhoun said in her art, only “together we build a neighborhood.”

On Saturday, our Chief Sustainability Officer, Vivian, brought councilors, bureaus, and East Portlanders together to celebrate Earth Day.

The history of disinvestments we're up against can feel defeating, but together we will make change.

I'm thankful for the conversations I had and leaders I met.

Her millennial approach to local office? Community-first. Transparent. Actually online.

Proud to have worked with @councilorgreen.bsky.social @counciloravalos.bsky.social and @councilordunphy.bsky.social on this proposal. We need a balance of long term and short term solutions to our housing and homelessness crisis, and this package strikes that balance.

On April 15, Portland City Council will consider a resolution focused on keeping the Inner Eastside Area Planning project moving forward. This is the resolution passed out of committee on March 12th (unanimously!) with huge support from our membership and coalition in the form of written testimony.

We need Portlanders to keep on pushing and advocating for these dollars to directly go to:

🏠Rent assistance
🏠Eviction prevention
🏠Downpayment assistance for tenants
🏠Affordable housing construction
🏠Rent buydowns
🏠Social housing

Stay engaged and stay loud!
