This is a fantastic video on the importance, value, and general awesomeness of scientific shared resources/cores. Thanks to ABRF @abrf.bsky.social! Reach out to your local cores and ask them how they can help with your research projects. They are experts and they want to help! f.io/1cgVqnLm

Happy #FluorescenceFriday! April is time for the Nikon Small World contest. Last year was great for Vanderbilt & CISR! James Hayes 4th; Dylan Burnette 10th; Zachary Sanchez 20th! CISR users, submit by April 30! @ento-sanchez.bsky.social @mag2art.bsky.social www.nikonsmallworld.com
Great review from the Hinton Lab!
For #FluorescenceFriday, a recent publication highlight from first author Duby Okonkwo from the Schoenecker lab. Great bone imaging with CISR widefield, 3D rendering, and analysis help from Oleg Kovtun. Thanks for using and acknowledging the CISR! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41651294/
Excited for the first full day of #ABRF2026! Jenny Schafer will present a Lightning Talk on maintaining publications, Monday 12:50. Sean Schaffer will participate in the Monday 2:45 panel, "How AI Can Be Used to Improve Core & Platform Operations". We'd love to say hello to old and new friends!
Here we go! The CISR supports our #Vanderbilt #Commodores as they begin #MarchMadness! #6 men's team plays today. #2 women's team plays Saturday. #AnchorDown #GoDores Image taken by James Hayes, CISR Nikon SDC, human heart cell undergoing division. (Basketballs not to scale.) #Microscopy

We're using #FluorescenceFriday to manifest some warmth here in Nashville! Still tens of thousands of people without power, still lots of ice on the roads and trees, and still below freezing. Enjoy this little cell pseudo-colored with Inferno for the nucleus and Orange Hot for the mitochondria. ๐ฅ๐งโ๏ธโ๏ธ
New paper alert for #FluorescenceFriday! Full of confocal imaging from Gu, Jacobson, & Kaverina Labs. "Paracrine Hormonal Signals From Islet ฮฑ-Cells Regulate Microtubule Dynamics in ฮฒ-Cells to Promote Insulin Secretion in Mouse and Human Islets" pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41511443/
So fun! I've been trying to figure out a way to explain this as an important part of cores - something about the breadth of samples and being available for one-off experiments on different sample types. It's very important!
First #MicroscopyMonday of 2026! Happy New Year!
Happy Holidays from the CISR! May all your days and fluorophores be BRIGHT. #MicroscopyMonday
