In San Diego for personal reasons a few weeks before #asms2026. Highly recommend the zoo if any of you on #TeamMassSpec have a free day before or after the conference.

"Zero Dalton resolution" is a terrible name
Got a new MacBook Air 15" last weekend. This could possibly be the perfect laptop.
Just the time scales that modern lc-ms users expect

Not sure how useful this would be for real use cases, but an interesting idea, if nothing else.
Boiler up! Big Ten champs!
If I can end up having even a small fraction of the impact that John has had, I will be a happy man. Here's to a great retirement Dr. Syka! (N/N) #TeamMassSpec
Little did I know that two decades later I would be a close friend of John's, working in those same offices on instruments that are descendants of his early work. What an honor to be one of the people carrying on the tradition that he and others started at Finnigan all those years ago. (3/N)
I remember reading his chapter on commercialization of the ion trap in "Practical Aspects of Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry" while I was in grad school. I thought it sounded like such a cool process, combining serious science and engineering to make tools for other scientists. (2/N)
I just had one last dinner with John Syka, before he moves back to Virginia for retirement later this week. I am indescribably grateful for the opportunity to work with him over the last eight years at Thermo. #TeamMassSpec (1/N)
ASMS acceptances are coming out #TeamMassSpec
Finally released the preprint covering TMT HR mode for the Orbitrap Astral Zoom mass spectrometer. Here, multi-pass MS/MS measurements grant us sufficient resolution to quantify TMT reporter ions even to 35-plex, greatly increasing analytical throughput.
