Canada backs rare earth mine in Nunavik with close ties to Trump White House | CBC News Amid Prime Minister Mark Carney’s calls that the Canada-U.S. relationship is ruptured, Ottawa has committed $175-million to a mining project in northern Quebec whose major U.S. investor is closely lin...

We need @avilewis.ca to raise this in parliament.

Canada giving $175M tax dollars to such a vile company is beyond unacceptable.

Yes, we need projects that will diversify Canada's economy. But not at the expense of our morals.

Everyone: read this CBC article.

-Former CEO donated millions to Trump in 2016, 2020.

-A subsidiary made the assault rifle used to kill children at Sandy Hook Elementary

-A subsidiary trained the Saudis who killed journalist Jamal Khashoggi

-Board chair co-authored Project 2025

Etc

Not only is this accurate, I would suggest that many of the people who are criticising Canada Post today are also saying we move to private healthcare.

Neither of their opinions are valid. It's frankly unCanadian.

This is the first smart thing Smith has ever done.

Alberta will remain 1 hour ahead of BC this winter (and every winter after).

Why is "huge" a selling point?

That's some weird American nonsense.

But yes, US automakers are dinosaurs.

An anti-Trump immigrant who uses reggaeton beats in his music??

Is it too late to say sorry? ;)

(But also, you're welcome)

Sincerely,
Canadá

Yeah, it's a total mystery how Apple overtook Blackberry after Obama changed government procurement rules to favour Apple.

That decision worked out so well for everyone given that Apple is a big Trump donor.

11 hours ago 1 0 0 0

That would have been good, though, because Blackberry was superior to iPhone. And Canadian, not some sh*tty American company that helps fund fascism.

Let's check in on the Fascist States of America...

The Democratic party is completely out of touch.

They need to abolish DHS, including ICE. And demolish every detention facility. And prosecute every DHS employee who committed a criminal act.

ICE needs to be abolished. Period.

If the Democratic party actually cared about humans, you would have shut down DHS, including ICE, in 2009.

It didn't exist pre-911 and it doesn't need to exist.

Not a loss.

It's a public service. Like RCMP. Or healthcare.

It's budget is an investment. Not a loss.

American citizens can stop it anytime they want.

When Congress fails to act, that is actually the duty of American citizens - to rise up against tyranny.

American consumers paid the tariffs. The corporations get the refunds.

Stealing from the poor and giving to the rich.

Is it guillotine time, yet?

Tragedies happen everywhere, including in Canada. But Mexican authorities need to do better at securing tourist areas. Especially following the cartel violence in February. This is not acceptable.

My condolences to the families of the victims.

Only in every Anglo country. ;)

But there's so many examples of place name changes which are entirely silly. We can say Roma, Milano, Sevilla, Kolkata, Praha, etc etc. No reason to translate those.

We've corrected ourselves with some places (e.g. Mumbai, not Bombay; Beijing, not Peking; etc).

This seems related to the issue of surveillance pricing the NDP has tried to raise with Carney. Using algorithms to raise prices needs to be banned.

It's incredibly surprising that mall, or at least its surface parking lot, hasn't been redeveloped as condos. The property is worth a fortune.

I feel the same about place names.

If you can say Germany, you can say Deutschland.

If you can spell Brazil, you can use the correct spelling of Brasil.

This isn't just an Anglicized annoyance. For example, people in Spanish speaking countries translate Sao Paolo to San Pablo. Unnecessary.

Because 99% of American citizens think their responsibility in a democracy starts and ends on election day. 🤷🏽‍♂️

(They're incorrect, of course)

I should add that their separation of Alberta as not prairies is also odd.

Yep, but it's not by province, it's by region (SK/MB = Prairies; NB/NS/PE/NL = ATL).

I agree, though, there's not much value from polls done by region.

17 hours ago 2 0 1 0

It's the same reaction when anyone mentions that Obama bombed the same number of countries as Trump (7).

Maybe someday centrist Democrats will learn that politicians beholdened to corporate donors is the actual issue.

17 hours ago 17 0 0 0

True, but that's like saying urban/rural isn't different. Or that there are regional differences within provinces (northern Ontario v southern Ontario or Van Island vs Okanagan, etc).

The only truly accurate polling is by riding.

If only.

Unfortunately, a narcissist is unlikely to recognize they have a problem, which is the first step, as they say.

Is that what I was doing? Or was I suggesting an alternative to the status quo and providing an opinion?

Everyone is welcome to use their time however they choose. Obviously.
