Headed to Zurich to do a performance-keynote in character as the CEO of a greenwashing tech "innovation" corporation and I have never hated myself as much as I do writing this script.

My burning hatred of Green Capitalism: coming to a stage near you soon.

The largest technology companies are contributing to a surge in data centre investment, as
their capital expenditure exceeded USD 400 billion in 2025 – and is expected to jump by
another 75% in 2026. Capital expenditure of just five technology companies is now larger
than global investment in oil and natural gas production. Many jurisdictions are seeing
project pipelines accelerate dramatically, although not all projects will come to fruition.
Those that are moving forward are doing so at pace: the IEA’s unique satellite-based tracking
shows that “artificial intelligence (AI) factories” – cutting-edge data centres specifically
designed for AI – have more than tripled in capacity in the past 18 months. Meanwhile, the
capabilities of AI are improving quickly, increasing the likelihood that it will reshape economic
growth, innovation and competitiveness and disrupt established industries and jobs.

- Total data centre investment is now greater than total global oil and gas investment

- Nvidia's "AI factories" marketing phrase has infected.......everything

OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman reminding everyone that the damage AI use does to your brain is a feature, not a bug: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility like electricity or water and people buy it from us on a meter".

I don’t think film dystopias do a good enough job portraying what keeps people going despite their terrible conditions, and I think it’s related to a lack of introspection and curiosity about how enslaved people psychologically survived enslavement

Since the war on Iran began on Feb 28, Israel has launched near-daily attacks on Lebanon, Gaza, and the occupied West Bank.

In that time, Israel killed at least 107 people, permitted only 8% of medical evacuations, and admitted just 20% of aid trucks into Gaza.

Thread.

Israel passed a law allowing the death penalty exclusively for Palestinians. It was written by the fascist Ben Gvir.

Israel is institutionalising genocide.

The counterterrorism police re-arresting Qesser Zuhrah (one of the Filton 24) for an Instagram post are covering their faces like ICE. When the court releases folks, the police continues the persecute them, also like ICE.

Fuck Labour Party and their authoritarian gestapo bullshit.

The bill has been approved. Israeli prisons will turn into guillotines for Palestinians.

Hundreds will be executed in the next few weeks. 9300 hostages now in Israeli custody.

Dark day for humanity. Unforgettable memory in the Palestinian cause history.

Israel’s holocaust of Palestinians reached a horrific new low today. No different than trains heading to gas chambers. Shame on everyone silent about this.

she is an anti-trans activist.

she actively uses the money brought in through Harry Potter to support and fund anti-trans policies. she intends to do the same with this new TV series.

grow up and let this franchise go.

The UK's military adviser in the Middle East went to Lebanon and blamed Hezbollah "for drawing the people of Lebanon into a conflict they do not want".

It remains unclear from the government's press release whether there are any other actors in Lebanon who might be responsible for the war.

placement of the Palestinians from their land. This is a family-friendly event that brings together Palestinians and supporters from all backgrounds and walks of life.

This year we will march on Saturday 16 May to demand an end to Britain’s complicity in Israel’s crimes and reaffirm our commitment to Palestinian freedom.

In response to our annual demonstration, far right thug ‘Tommy Robinson’ has called  a hate march on the same day. This is not the first time the far right has targeted the Palestine movement. In the past they have done so aggressively with verbal and physical violence directed at us and the police.

Disgracefully, the police have now refused our proposed route, even though we informed them of our intention to march on 18 December 2025. Instead, they have allocated London’s political centre, the whole of Whitehall, Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square, to the far right protest.

We call on the police to immediately reverse this shameful decision. We call on every person of good conscience to march with us for Palestine in London on Saturday 16 May.

We will march.

In December 2025, the Palestine Coalition informed the Metropolitan Police of its planned route for the annual Nakba Day march on 16 May. This has only now been refused because of the announcement by Tommy "Ten Names" Robinson of plans to hold a far right march on the same day.

Majority white nations would have preferred to decide what constitutes enslavement, crime, and their degree. A macrocosmic illustration of white academia, ie, white academics prefer discussing racial justice with other white academics.
Shameless whiteness.

The war in Iran has everyone talking about the price of oil. But that number only reflects a small fraction of what oil actually costs.

While talking heads focus on oil's market price—shaped by supply disruptions, geopolitical risk, and expectations about future availability—millions are bearing the rest of the bill in ways that never show up at the pump: in the smoke and terror of war, in the heat and floods of a destabilized climate, and in the explosions and toxic fallout that come with living near oil infrastructure.

The flooding in Hawaii this weekend offers one of the clearest examples. Back-to-back Kona storms unleashed what Governor Josh Green called “the largest flood that we’ve had in Hawaii in 20 years,” submerging roads, destroying homes, and forcing hundreds of rescues across the islands. On the ground, officials described scenes of near-total devastation—families returning to find their homes flooded out, entire communities cut off, and more than 200 people pulled from rising water.

Scientists have been warning for years that excessive fossil fuel burning will cause more catastrophic floods like this. That’s because fossil fuels release greenhouse gases, which warm the atmosphere, and a warmer atmosphere holds more moisture. That makes extreme rainfall more intense.

But these impacts never factor into the price of a barrel of oil. They’re pushed onto everyone else—through disaster cleanup, insurance losses, and taxpayer-funded relief. In Hawaii, the damage is already estimated to exceed $1 billion, with state officials asking the federal government to cover up to 90 percent of the recovery costs. Whether that aid comes through or not, the bill is being paid by the public, not the industry whose emissions made disasters like this more likely.

Just an extremely important piece from @emorwee.bsky.social in the Heated newsletter here.

Oil prices have *ALWAYS* been fantastical and absurd, because it never factors in the shocking costs of what happens when you use it
