"Let somebody in office" is wild. The *hundreds of millions* of Americans who voted Dem, didn't vote or voted 3rd party didn't let him do anything. The 77 million people who voted for him in 2024 actively put him there and are 100% responsible. I'll die on that hill.

Fans of huge clubs that win trophies mockingly say "boring, boring (club name here)" when their clubs only win 1-0, but they have nothing on boring, boring Fulham today. Listless in a huge derby match. I'll take a point over none, but woof. Bernd Leno looked better than he has in a long time though.

The White Sox are out here validating my decision to spend a Friday night on my couch half-awake with my cats...

Sorry that was me misunderstanding, I thought you meant all the players the Dodgers added. Certainly every team can add at least one superstar for crazy high money if they wanted to.

Most teams can't spend like that per se, but they could spend a lot more. The Dodgers also would've lost to a team who spent $100M+ less if a utility player making a league average salary hadn't homered in the 9th inning of Game 7.

Yeah this sounds pretty "DJT will grow into being Presidential" but for the Democratic Party who remain rake stepping champions.

Very funny that republicans read this and are immediately like “oh shit he’s talking about us”

Well you see, things are only scary if they personally *inconvenience* you. Things that ruin or end the lives of people who are not you aren't all that scary... (Sarcasm should be obvious, but putting this caveat that I'm being sarcastic because Poe's law and all)

I'm not a fan of TikTok per se, but I respect it's generational importance and besides working with teens, I'm also adjacent to it because sometimes my wife convinces me to watch it with her. (To clarify for anyone who doesn't know me, she's also over 40)

I mean I love my Mom generally (and my Grandma was also pretty awesome too she was just wrong on that one), but not a lot of fortysomethings summon instant empathy for younger generations and their music/culture.

I remember in the mid '90s being with my Mom and Grandma at a diner and putting Alice in Chains on the jukebox, my Grandma said something like "This is horrible, it sounds like a funeral dirge" and my Mom said "It's not that different from what was on the radio in the '70s" and I love her for that.

Like I think almost any criticism of Gen Z or Alpha is ironic, because it's usually just a slight re-working of the ones levied against Xennials when we were young.

An underrated bad part of getting older is seeing people in my generation follow in the footsteps of Boomers and older Gen Xers of just being needlessly angry at young people and shitting on their culture apropos of nothing.

Yep. I will say congrats to this editorial for creating a new sub-category in the age old one of dumping on younger generations for absolutely no reason.

I kept procrastinating on buying a new pair of shoes from them until my existing ones totally fell apart and guess I can't now...

I'm not against the White Sox trading Lenyn Sosa, but the timing seems pretty off. Hays and Teel are out hurt and our other notable bats (Mune, Colson, Vargas & *sigh* Benny) are all slumping. Right offers don't necessarily meet the right time frame, but we desperately need any consistent offense...

Trump is running an interesting experiment in how many self-identified Christian Americans have actual religious commitments and how many are just into it because it provides a means for the socially defensible expression of bigotry bsky.app/profile/bria...

Part of what explains Trump is that he assumes everyone else is just as self serving, selfish, and narcissistic as him so he never believes anyone is sincere in their faith. Pope Leo is absolutely willing to die for his faith and wouldn't even flinch.

Also, I didn't mean to imply Italians or Irish still face a lot of bigotry, just that it's been a historical trend. Nor did I mean to exclude the many people whose countries of origin are majority-Catholic Latin American countries other than Mexico who are being terrorized by the US gov't.

Also as a caveat, although I'm not and wasn't raised Catholic- the majority of my family on both sides was (many still practicing) as are a lot of friends. So even with all the terrible stuff the Church has done and all the things I disagree with them on, a lot of people I care about are Catholic.

I understand the Catholic Church has a history of doing some pretty unconscionable things and the bigotry against immigrants from majority Catholic countries isn't just because of Catholicism, but there's only so much nuance you can cram into a character limit.

It's loud now, but the Right's anti-Catholicism isn't surprising. The Klan was anti-Catholic, White Evangelicals have often implied (or said) Catholics aren't "Real Christians" & historically there's been bigotry against immigrants from majority Catholic countries (Ireland, Italy, Mexico, etc.).

Stop empowering adults who hate teenagers.

Fulham will probably end up 9th by beating Arsenal and losing to Wolves or something like that... Anyway, this take probably only applies to 2026 TBH.

I could've objectively looked at the White Sox schedule before the season and told you they'd be 6-10 at this point, I just wouldn't think it'd involve sweeping the Jays and splitting in Kansas City.

One thing the White Sox and Fulham FC have in common (besides giving me small bits of joy in between long stretches of disappointment) is that they take very bizarre routes to get where they should be.

#cf97 winning again 🥰 #cf97 scoring once and that still being more than the White Sox have scored the last two games🫠
