I reviewed this round and got assigned so many random grants way outside my expertise and field. Community health, health policy, and then a few mouse studies. Maybe 3 or 4 relevant ones out of 10-12 assignments. I hope they do a better job at assigning reviewers so comments like that dont happen!

Had a wonderful end of summer lab party to celebrate success in the lab. Sarah defended her MSc, Alina and Royce won graduate scholarships, Jamila and Katherine won Summer research awards, and McKenna, Alina, & Jamila were selected for oral presentations at the CLAE CERI symposium this Fall.
I was a co-investigator on one grant where 5/40 were funded (12.5%) and we were in the second bin (75-90%) with a 4.18 score.
My first PG submission went to a different panel and they funded 8/45 (17.7%), but with a 4.2 score, I was placed in the 4th bin (25-49%), even as an ECR. What??
Congrats Ciaran and team!

In this work we reveal that astrocytes, the most abundant glial cell type, are responsible for the effects of stress and that targeting these cells completely rescued the effects of stress on neuronal activity and behaviour!

We use an overhead camera mount rig to record 2 mice with dual recordings in each mouse. there are slotted holes for camera mounts and the fibers feed in through them quite well and keeps things from tangling. can also fit a webcam above the testing apparatus.
