Reviewed Raye's new album for @godisinthetvzine.bsky.social
It's not for me but I admire and respect her ambition. And man, she's got some ambition. All power to her.

This review reads like it's written by a five year old. I've no idea how Bradshaw still has a job.
Gosling isn't a "hunky" school teacher, jesus.

Kip.
May 29th.
Hope he continues his journey as Solitary Tracks was brilliant.
What a song this is.
If you're not into Carter Faith yet, sort yourself out. She should be the biggest thing going in country music. Witty lyrics, great voice, pedal steel, ballads, power pop country, Cherry Valley is one of the best in years.

"When I first heard pedal steel
I knew that god was real"
What a great line. And in a song called Sex, Drugs, & Country Music.

Favourite song from Megan Mooney's new record
New records from Kacey and Lainey this year? Yes please. Possibly from Miranda too? That'd be too much.
Looking for new music today? Look no further than Morgan Nagler's terrific debut. Grungy and indie and folky. It's a songwriters record.
If you want to know more about Morgan I chatted with her recently about her songwriting.

Avery Anna's new EP is great. Always felt she's got something really interesting about her and it's starting to really come through in her music now.
There's a variety and genuine quality to it.

Gonna have to say it...
I'm heading to C2C in London this weekend and I couldn't be less excited. The lineup is TERRIBLE.
I'm not even going on the Saturday, first day missed in over ten years.
Compounded by Meg McRee and Aaron Raitiere not being there now either.
That sucks.
See you there...
You're kidding me... literally the only two reasons I was going... no explanation??
So I think Cam has just done the best show I've ever seen.
The songs. The voice. The band. The pacing. The setlist. Perfect.
This is such a good record, I think will be high on my year end list. It's the music as much as the lyrics for me, such a quirky yet accessible kinda vibe. Big fan!
It's such a cracking record. I've got a lotta lotta of time for it
We're a disgrace in the UK, Madi Dias couldn't sell enough tickets at modest venues on a headline tour. Only London is going ahead.
She's a super talent, written songs you'll know so well, and he own music is brilliantly understated.
It's SO hard isn't it, even now all these decades later!!
Great paragraph from Simon Price about the price of gig tickets.
I've had a bugbear about the gig going experience for a few years now. Nothing about it is nice. Nothing.
Yes the show can be good, but the venue is almost always shit, as Simon says you enjoy the show despite it
Where it started to where it is. My first Substack.
Short recaps of encounters with Sturgill, Fulbright, Maren, Amanda, and Jason.

This is one of the greatest gig lineup's of all time
What even is this festival these days?? Who goes???
Wet Leg into Lewis Capaldi??? The Looks into The Cure???
Rick Astley, Five, Anastasia and KT Tunstall main stage on Saturday?
What am I looking at????

Giving the lovely pink @dinkededition.bsky.social of Courtney Marie Andrews new record a spin. It's her best yet, building on everything she's done before to make something beautiful.
I know you shouldn't *care* about politics and music but it does make me a little sad inside. Absolutely love Morgan and Carter...
Fust tonight at The Louisiana.
If you don't know their record Big Ugly, check it out, you'll like it.

With Fust kicking off their UK tour in London tonight, check out my interview with Aaron Dowdy to find out where their stories and inspiration comes from.

Colour me not shocked. I "interviewed" to write for Holler in their early days and they were a commercially ambitious outfit then. This is the logical conclusion to that. But, they do have some damn good coverage of outside the norm artists, so they could be a lot worse.
Interesting article, I've literally been saying this for about two years. Look at I'm A Celeb too.

2025 retro. EPs are not always my thing but Minna's Camino was a terrific 5 song package of quiet Americana rock.

2025 retro. Too many people slept on Madeline Edwards excellent second album, FRUIT. Beautiful and heartbreaking yet full of hummable melodies. There was nothing else like it.

If you're looking for something to listen to today I've been getting into Sophia Zamani 's 2024 and 2025 records.
She's country leaning Americana, with some grit about her.
