yeag,
Not that it isn’t overwhelming or crushing or brutal, but I find it far more listenable than Cop for some reason.
It’s interesting how Swans’ live album Public Castration Is A Good Idea translates the Greed/Holy Money era into a style closer to Cop and yet doesn’t have as much of an overwhelming, crushing vibe. Maybe it’s the live production. I don’t know.
No shade to Faye Kingslee, her performance as Nico in DMC5 is great and Citra is one of my favorite characters in Far Cry 3 (she's SO FUCKIN UNNERVING) but she just doesn't quite click for me as Faith's voice.
FAITH! AAAAAAA
Mirror's Edge is one of those games that no matter how often I play it I can always come back to it. Faith is a particular reason why, she is SUCH a strong character. Jules de Jongh is an underutilized voice actress in games, and her not coming back for Catalyst really fuckin sucks
honestly as time goes on i realize how much i find sadako very... sympathetic. likeable. i always wonder how her life might have gone if she had been shown consistent kindness at any point.
i'd be sadako's friend. *shrug*
i honestly do really like the interpretation that she's on a date WITH Sadako. what an odd pair that'd be. but good for them.
sadako staring at me as i try to figure out what to order for fifteen minutes straight while she ponders why she went on a date with the world's most indecisive man
Well I for one am happy that our environmentally friendly transportation can now also function as a coffin and crematory retort all in one.
I like it when things are utilitarian, multifunctional and efficient.
i love how you could look at what i said as a criticism, but no for real i LOVE this album. it's just... hard to listen to. it never lets up. it's a full-on assault. like the title track puts it, "nothing beats them like a cop".
#40: Swans - Cop
Whereas Filth is a perfect amount of catharsis, this album hits a much darker note. Slower, even more aggressive, and with no higher energy, danceable tracks. Genuinely difficult to listen to more than once. Lyrics are especially fucked up.
Fave track: Why Hide
Rating: 8/10
I still think the description "Sounds like being hit with a shovel while high on meth" is perfect for this album, by the way. PERFECT description. No notes.
also i may have reviewed this already but shhhhhhh
#39: Swans - Filth
It's rare to find an album that nails the kind of aggression that I find most cathartic, but this is near the top of the list. Brutal, vicious, yet endlessly listenable and with moments of unexpected danceable qualities.
Fave tracks: Big Strong Boss & Blackout
Rating: 10/10
I think part of why people are getting tired of the current economic situation is we're no longer living the simulacrum of the rich, and why "Temporarily inconvenienced millionaire" tropes don't ring true for me as an explanation as to why we let conservative government destabilize things for so-
*hisses and flings self out a window*
what the hell is a dildo duck
man i want a full-on JoJo's open-world sandbox where you can swap out for any character and just fuck around fighting random stand users.
I tried having a civil debate with one once and they completely dodged my questions. Now they get the ol “fuck off”. Bodily autonomy for all, goddammit, not your stupid moral grandstanding over a fetus.
Few things are quite as satisfying as telling anti abortion activists to fuck off
Seeing someone on campus dresses in reflective clothing, holding a cigarette, and wearing a VR headset over his face, eyes completely obscured, was maybe the strangest thing I’ve seen in a while
you could've just said "pie". people would've known what you meant. adding the "cream" makes people think something else.
did not expect Euripides’ The Bacchae to be a force-femme story but here we are.
honestly now i kinda wish i had enough money to commission @xenopavilia.bsky.social to do art of The Bacchae. i dunno, it would make sense to me.
I wonder if Henry Rollins’ spoken word is inspired by early Swans. This Is Mine starts out sounding almost exactly like a Rollins routine. I guess it depends on whether the spoken word tracks on Family Man were recorded before or after Young God came out…
i hope it's very clear by now but i am one of those scary transgender freaks your mom warned you about. im pro kink. its cartoons. get weird with it!!!
