Now I know why I haven’t been seeing much tweets lately! All my lovely peeps are here posting skeets after all!

I think the biggest pushback we had was against ‘bloot’ - about 5 months ago. 😂 The developers were quick to say ‘No’ to that, and rightfully so. I remember a few of us first 200 or so users addressing posts exclusively as bloot back then. Jay however didn't mind, or at least wasn't vocal about it.

That’s very true. Hard to beat Mastodon when it comes to academia posts.

I’ve tried quite a few apps - can’t seem to settle on one. I still use the stock one. Certainly intrigued by one called ‘Toot!’ It’s a paid one - I might end up getting it if I switch to Mastodon on a more permanent basis.

I can see benefits to both. Not gonna lie, the more I use these alternatives, the more I miss Twitter from the yesteryears. I guess I might try using both BlueSky and Mastodon more frequently and then settle on one of them. I did enjoy both early on - albeit for completely different reasons.

Are we all moving here for good?

Thank you! 😊 Love this! I tend to use social media as an escape more often than not. But then there are times - like when the pandemic was at its peak - in those instances, I don’t just like to consume information but also like to contribute to the scientific community to the best of my ability!

After reading that, I think your community here (including me) would be quite mad at you if you did. 🙈 These journals prey on others’ hard-work, they restrict science behind paywalls, and then gate-keep people and research that’s not in their interest.

Can I be added too? 🙈 I don't post science stuff as often, but when I do, I tend to go all in!
