Renewables First, Not Fossils First: Policy Response to the Fossil Fuel Crisis - Greenpeace Aotearoa The attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran have created a global energy crisis, as oil and gas exports from the Gulf are restricted and global prices rise.

It was a bet on fossil fuels that has gone catastrophically wrong. But in the world of climate crisis, it was always wrong. There is a better way: www.greenpeace.org/aotearoa/sto...

The growth of climate-related disinformation in New Zealand - accelerating sharply after the 2023 general election, and under the coalition govt - has served as a significant vector for a transnational industry working to normalise climate change denial. sanjanah.wordpress.com/2026/04/20/s... #nzpol

ANALYSIS: Government set to reduce Treaty in legislation to the lowest possible standard!
What it means is, they couldn't pass their bill to kill the #TreatyOfWaitangi so now they'll weaken Treaty obligations across 23 laws to undermine it!

🎯 @maorigreenlantern.bsky.social on Paul Goldsmith 💀
"This is not a minister. This is a colonial administrator with a full spectrum brief."

💯 agree. 2026-flavoured Colonisation. Goldsmith should resign. How else can Aotearoa disrupt completion of his destructive To Do List in the next 6mths? #nzpol

🚨 #ToitūTeTiriti I remember when Māori leaders urged us all to submit agst the Treaty Principles Bill, many also warned it was a smokescreen. They knew NZ Crown ways, knew machinations were occurring in the background. Goldsmith should resign. Ngā mihi nui @maorigreenlantern.bsky.social for visuals.

for those abroad, the the treaty of waitangi is new zealand's founding document, intended to giuarantee Māori some measure of equality in our own country. Any "repeal" is itself a treaty violation and a betrayal.

Nicola Willis to ask White House when things will return to ‘normal’ The finance minister is also suggesting Pacific get World Bank aid at big Washington DC meetings.

For those still wondering how a different government might have guided us through an unprecedented global pandemic…

Maybe by asking the coronavirus itself when it thought things might, y’know, return to “normal”? #nzpol

Clearly, we don't want the BSA to be calling out lies in political advertising during an election year.

The only solution is to get rid of the BSA.

Because no way will you ever get National, ACT or NZFirst to stop outright lying...

Two months after we found a US War Dept document revealing US military sites in Britain, the Guardian writes an article based on the same document, without mentioning us.

Who would have thought?

It was fairly well known that Orban was funding far-right "patriot" groups in Europe, and useful idiots like Rod Dreher, but there was also money going to CPAC. Perhaps it was Putin's money in the first place. Looking forward to further revelations.

When Board members by and large are pretty much insulated from the effects of decisions, it's always easy for commentators on the news to give us an almost breezy "So yes, things could get difficult for a bit longer, but ultimately they should work themselves out after a while... LOL"

Privatising public hospital eye care by stealth, not diagnosis Comment: The Govt’s tender to outsource ophthalmology services is startling and significant – the first time a country-wide public hospital clinical service has been privatised

“Be aware of ongoing steps to privatise by stealth – like the Request for Proposals for outsourcing of ophthalmology for the entire country.” This was a message forwarded to me by a concerned emergency medicine specialist

Cartoon. Title: “Food Security” Image shows the New Zealand Grown food label, but instead of the white stylised silhouette of a kiwi, it has a kiwi skeleton, looking dismayed. Down the bottom right, on the label, is a ‘R’ for registered trade mark, but there is an arrow pointing to it, saying “Rated ‘R’ for “Rooted.” In the background are mixed chopped vegetables.
