If we allow ourselves to get in the way, we defeat the purpose, which is to use the light of our search to illuminate the wall in all its beauty and in all its flaws; and in so doing, better understand the world around us. (End)
Sometimes we stand in front of the light and assume that we are the center of the universe – God looks astonishingly like we do – or we turn to look at our shadow and assume that all is darkness. (4)
What we perceive as God is the by-product of our search for God. It may simply be an appreciation of the light, pure and unblemished, not understanding that it comes from us. (3)
The more intense the search, the brighter the light on the wall. The brighter the light on the wall, the greater the sense of revelation upon seeing it. Similarly, someone who does not search – who does not bring a lantern – sees nothing. (2)
If I take a lamp and shine it toward the wall, a bright spot will appear on the wall. The lamp is our search for truth, for understanding. Too often, we assume that the light on the wall is God, but the light is not the goal of the search, it is the result of the search. (1)

SAVE TRANS HEALTH CARE [QR CODE] TransActual's GP guide for supporting Trans patients sources: [2 QR codes] Scan here to read about wait times Scan here to read the Healthwatch Report for York GPs Gender Identity Clinics have years long wait lists - the worst wait for someone referred now is 224 Years before a first appointment, let alone any care York GPs are increasingly refusing "shared care" for trans people (where they prescribe meds and monitor the patient's progress, following instructions from specialists, as they do with many other conditions like diabetes, arthritis, or ADHD). Local trans and nonbinary people have been refused routine blood tests and medication even if they have a diagnosis. In some cases people have been told their existing prescriptions will be stopped, stripping them of care they've already received for years How To Help: Offer to attend appointments with your Trans friends so their doctor knows there is accountability Join your GP surgery's patient feedback group and speak up for Trans healthcare Contact Wes Streeting directly and pressure him to improve nationwide care: dhsc.publicenquiries@dhsc.gov.uk
Trans healthcare is being undermined, restricted, and denied all over the UK. These steps backwards are anti-scientific and ideologically driven, and until the voices speaking up for trans people are louder than the heavily funded campaigns against them, nothing will get better. Every voice counts.
Always exciting to see the Avignon Papacy in the news
Further investigation says this might be AI slop, not confirmed, but just so people are aware.
I've found the official Free Polish ensign from the period, and it has the eagle insignia middle top rather than the Union Jack top left. Good call though, might be some unofficial mishmash
I don't know. Sadly that photo is all I have.
The back of a ship with some variety of a British Ensign flying from the stern. The top part is white, and the bottom a darker colours, presumably red or blue, but it's unclear.

What ensign is this?
We think WW2 era.
I'll be at sea, but you should go.
Keep one of the astronauts off camera. Don't refer to that one or talk about them in any way. When Mission Control asks or mention them, respond "Who?".
If you have dates for a ship's voyage (say, from a discharge book), does anyone know a way to get the distance traveled on that voyage using free to access AIS data?
Or if you are, there are bigger problems...
I still find it weird that all of Artemis' crew sleep at the same time. I get that there's no traffic etc for them to worry about, but not being on watches just doesn't seem natural.

I am sad that my irrational hatred of modern d10s means I can't get nice dice sets.

I've made a new friend.
I was at Tantallon yesterday and there was a coaster hanging about waiting to go in
A vast rocky outcrop covered in guarno. On top sits a stubby cylindrical object with pipe mounted horizontally. It's a giant fog horn, but it looks like the top of a Dalek.
Hey, @nlb-uk.bsky.social
Just FYI, I think the Daleks have landed on Bass Rock.

For a while now, I've resisted attempts to increase my Plastic Crack collection beyond Battletech. I have now however cracked, and will shortly be taking delivery of a Dropfleet Commander fleet.
I guess I better get myself a new can of primer.

In a reference that I think 1 single person reading this will get, 20 years late, I have finally done the Steerer's Pilgrimage.
Speed ran a 3 day training course by finishing at 1030 on day 2. It helped that it's a practical heavy course meant for 8 people, but I was the only one, so no waiting for equipment etc.
They're angry, fighty, territorial bastards. The sweet robin calls of Christmas lore are basically them screaming 'fuck off or I'll cut you' at each other
