The hits just keep coming, hey? 🙃

Bill 29, introduced today, is another attempt by Danielle Smith and the UCP to further privatize health care in Alberta and create a two-tier system, where some people can skip the line for diagnostic services while others are left waiting as the public system continues to struggle.
Follow along as we do the 21-day #cybercleanse week-by-week! This weekend, ditch #Chrome, #Safari, or #Edge and move to a privacy-centric alternative. Already on #Firefox? There is a long list of easy, free, and freeing new ones to try!

That’s really close to campus! 👀
Mid single digits Celsius seems nice for early April. ☺️ It’s 6 °C here, although admittedly the full sun isn’t hurting any
Yikes! Yeah, 29 Celsius seems high for early April, unless you’re in south Florida ☀️
I mean… at least it had a third wheel 😁
Super fast
Considering buying a lottery ticket: yesterday I sent out four manuscript review invitations. After the first two responses were declines, I started gearing up for my usual marathon. But no, the next two responses were accepts! 🥳

Interesting how those two tend to go together
Apropos of nothing, has anyone pointed out to a certain someone that Greenland is smaller than Algeria and only 7% the size of Africa?
I realize the bigger issue is the violation of sovereignty, but one wonders if the perceived size of that landmass underlies the odd obsession
Underrated response 😅
Awesome!
Definitely enjoyed this season of Stranger Things! As I wrapped up the final episode, it hit me that I’m really going to miss the characters and the nostalgic trip back to the 80s (the main crew is portrayed as graduating a year after I did)
A world map meme with large red text at the top reading "WE ARE HIRING PHD STUDENTS". The map shows two paths between North America and Europe: a red curved line following a great-circle route labeled "Current Stupid Route," and a straight black line cutting across the Atlantic labeled "AI Optimized Route". Large red text at the bottom reads "DUTIES MAY INCLUDE TEACHING AI THAT GEOGRAPHY IS REAL." The GATOR Lab logo (Geospatial Analytics, Technology and Open Research) is in the bottom right corner.
AI is powerful, but it still lacks basic spatial logic.
We're recruiting 2 fully funded #PhD students for Fall 2026.

Love the graphic! 😁
Paging @jmtheodor.bsky.social ☺️
To be clear, it is (and has always been) a good idea to read enough of someone’s research to communicate potential overlap in interests. I’m talking about very specific “overall, your study did X, which shows Y” kind of stuff, which (in my experience) is new but rapidly growing
Is someone recommending to undergrads that they include a paragraph-long summary of a recent paper when they reach out to professors about summer research, or is it becoming common simply because it’s really easy with AI?
Because, like, we know… we wrote it 🤷♂️ 🌎 🧪
Here's ABLawg’s 2025 year in review. I retired several yrs ago but am still an active contributor to the Faculty’s blog on developments on law and policy in Alberta.
ABlawg is an imp bridge betwn the academic and legal practice communities & an important source for media.
