Yeah it sounded like too much work at “chicken liver”

(You may have already knew this but I didn’t and it’s kinda blowing my mind

Like, a whole subclass of creature named, in effect, “weird goose egg” because of some silly medieval folklore! That’s wild!)

The thing that gets me is that’s how barnacles got their name. They’re named after the goose, not the other way around

Have a friend that worked in a vet ER too and has ptsd because of it. Said the people were more responsible for the trauma than the animals, a lot of it around people being unable to afford care and lashing out.

11 pm is often when I’m possessed with the sudden need to write

Why never at a more convenient time? Who knows, but regret is for the morning. Now is for art

I had a moment of “should I dig into this more? Do I want to fall down this discourse rabbit hole?” and chose the path of wisdom.

I don’t even remember where I saw the discourse in the wild, but it was something about guys who are into it are child predators. So I looked it up, expecting something messed up… and it’s just a normal game????

It’s good to be skeptical! Corporations generally don’t have your best interest in mind and the market for data (both for AI and other data broker bullshit) is creepy af.

But it’s also important to keep our risk assessment grounded.

Need to replace the conservation status with a threat assessment. I need to know which of these cassowaries should I be most concerned with?

You think they’re putting cell service in their cheap gimmick to bug the houses of 100 random people who will know they’re being recorded?

I’d be way more worried about random apps on your phone and the phones & wearables of people you hang out with than this.

Even if they put a secret WiFi chip in there, you’d still have to connect it to a network.

:(

Yeah, that is a lot. I get it though. Hopefully things will get better. Or, if not, maybe you can get proper sleep meds from your dr.

I stumbled on it around when a family member was diagnosed with cancer. I remember listening to it in the car as I was driving to where she was having surgery. It’s a messy song for some messy feelings and I don’t know entirely how to feel about it.

Yeah, I like the song but that line is… not great.

I do think the line isn’t entirely meant to be taken at face value—there’s a lot of frustration and contradiction in the song. It’s a search for meaning that with a lot of references kinda jumbled up and sometimes inverted, but intentionally so.

ALD Report: The glass ceiling is made of small biases frequently applied Modelling women’s promotions within a biased environment explains why the glass ceiling emerges and why it’s resistant to change.

The glass ceiling is made of small biases frequently applied.

That's the conclusion of a team of researchers who modelled how six biases against women would cumulatively affect their chances of promotion over time. They found that it wasn't...

I agree. Proponents often link it to the first law of thermodynamics, treating it as inviolable, but the reality is that it’s a significant oversimplification of the human body, consciousness, and thermodynamics.

Idk. I stab people (children, even!) almost every Friday and it’s usually my favorite day of the week 🤺
