I had a moment of “should I dig into this more? Do I want to fall down this discourse rabbit hole?” and chose the path of wisdom.

I don’t even remember where I saw the discourse in the wild, but it was something about guys who are into it are child predators. So I looked it up, expecting something messed up… and it’s just a normal game????

It’s good to be skeptical! Corporations generally don’t have your best interest in mind and the market for data (both for AI and other data broker bullshit) is creepy af.

I stumbled on it around when a family member was diagnosed with cancer. I remember listening to it in the car as I was driving to where she was having surgery. It’s a messy song for some messy feelings and I don’t know entirely how to feel about it.

Yeah, I like the song but that line is… not great.

I do think the line isn’t entirely meant to be taken at face value—there’s a lot of frustration and contradiction in the song. It’s a search for meaning that with a lot of references kinda jumbled up and sometimes inverted, but intentionally so.
