If nobody’s watching/listening/reading it’s not a public service
Guardian story : “an unexpected shortage of cornichons has caused consternation in sandwich shops across the country as cafes scramble to get their hands on jars of the small green pickles.”
@secondmentions.bsky.social small green pickles
Will need you to follow me.
@adammacqueen.bsky.social can I DM you re Hobbe’s Folly?
Even Gilbert & Sullivan was improved by having her on board
Just wish there was something like it now, even if that meant it was *of* its time. I’d read it every day.
Thank you Dave - it was always a regret we never got you on the team. You would have been a natural. I guess the lure of going to San Francisco was just too great.
I don’t remember writing it, but a lot of digital ink has passed under the bridge since then. But looking back, the Magazine was really ahead of its time.
BBC News’ decision to remove anything fun or with a sense of community (Eddie Mair style PM, Adrian Chiles style working lunch, the Daily Politics to Politics Live switch), in favour of a multi format news sludge has been incredibly damaging. I loved the Magazine.
The BBC News (online) magazine was such a great product. Amazing feature writing, strong sense of its reader community. High standards. I miss it.
Greetings @seanjcoughlan.bsky.social or maybe it was you??
Hello @mrjonkelly.bsky.social - you may have written this Good Friday piece?
@alanconnor.bsky.social @stephenmulvey.bsky.social @clarespencer.bsky.social must be more Magazine folk here, surely?
TFW you look something up and find @BBCNewsMagazine got there first. We did a good thing. www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-m...
Haven’t touched FB since I read it. Just not going there.
Right. Currently they look like Reform patsies. If they’re not they need to speak up.
Gee Americans talk well. This Tiger Woods press conference copper is so fluent.
The biggest drop-intro I’ve ever seen, Robin, delightfully illustrating your point
Couldn't agree more. Everyone wants a birthday card. These things (sometimes) matter.
@stokel.bsky.social (a man who knows his stuff): "The BBC News website's Magazine section... God bless its soul... it was the best thing the BBC ever did..."
Two excellent journalists have a fascinating discussion about technology and... [cough]... the BBC News Magazine... Great work fellas @stokel.bsky.social and Alex Hudson open.spotify.com/episode/4HTW...

“Gregor Mendel - Creepy Pioneer of Genetics” in the current @vizcomic.bsky.social is a work of genius
Who could say what the actual price is now… buying a train ticket is now as complex as getting a sandwich in Subway
music.apple.com/gb/album/the... Maybe it’s just me but I think this is @billybragg.bsky.social ‘s finest. As true today as it was in 1991.
No asterisks! It’s either editorially essential or it’s not. That’s what we decided in the heyday of news.bbc.co.uk
He didn’t want to go for selfies which was fine cos neither did I.
Yeah just a normal Friday evening watching American Psycho in Islington with Tarantino. You?
