Thinking about doing this weekly on my blog, or maybe just here. It’s s good idea!

🥗 This webinar yesterday from the office if NYC Mayor Mamdani’s office, on the city’s first-ever official true cost of living data tool and report, was inspiring! Great antidote to *waves* everything!

Maybe we're in the next stage -- is it Hate stage capitalism? That's what this feels like.
What's the next stage after late stage capitalism? When does it get here? Soonest I hope.
Now and then I get an email about Who's Who. Is this a cult or something, preying on the egos of up-and-coming professionals who aren't sure if their work/career matters?

“Republicans decried this abuse. Their ire was reserved for a single mom who used SNAP benefits to buy a birthday cake for her 8-year-old.”
The morality of this country is upside down.
🥗
“A RAND study finds that if we’d kept the 1975 income distribution, the bottom 90% of workers would have earned an additional $3.9 trillion in 2023 alone — a $32,000 raise per full-time worker for a single year.”

Ironic or just sad that the weakest feature of Gmail and other Google apps is... search?
Seriously, I never find anything I'm looking for in Gmail. Though, tbh, I have an insanely full inbox!
🥗 I just went down a LinkedIn rabbit hole trying to find a post I was going to respond to on my phone (but lost it there too). Anyway that was the boomiest LinkedIn doomscroll I've ever experienced. The world is BLEAK out there, man. Where are you finding the light, cause I ain't seeing it.
🥗 1-month % change in individuals participating in SNAP.
Not nearly as dramatic (thankfully)--it might become more so in the coming months as these cuts continue to kick in.

🥗 That 30% drop in SNAP participation in Arizona? It's now a 43% drop (1/25-1/26)
I'm going to look at the % change in households and benefits later today.

Made it through 5 Nights At Freddy’s (chemo) without incident. Phew I can eat real food again!
#USWNT, what, respectfully… was that?
When listing Target Corp‘s many failures over the last 2 years, please don’t forget that here in Minnesota, home to their effin’ HQ, they allowed 🧊 to hunt their own employees in their stores and stage their terror attacks on the surrounding neighborhoods from Target parking lots.😡
It's pure labor exploitation and redistribution of wealth--upwards. Remember that if you quit a job while on SNAP, you lose your benefits. Ripe for abuse and exploitation.
🥗 Can we agree that the goal of work requirements--and PRWORA as a whole--was never to improve people's prospects, get them into good jobs, or help people become "self-sufficient". It was--and continues to be--to cut benefits, redirect those benefits to oligarchs, and steer ppl into low-wage jobs.
Irony is dead, or on life support.

It’s working well for corporations and oligarchs, whose only qualification is the ability to extract wealth from people with little left to extract.
🥗 extracting $ from SNAP to fund more tax cuts for the oligarchs. They have no capacity for empathy. Or shame.

Florida had the second-highest drop (~16% I think) in the nation, after Arizona. We’ll see this across the country.
Nw life is busy and there’s a LOT yo read!
More: “More than 400,000 Arizonans have lost their SNAP benefits since July — the largest decline in the nation by a wide margin — as an underfunded state agency administered changes called for in President Donald Trump’s so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
From the article:
“Arizona’s swift implementation has made it more difficult to apply and caused nearly half of recipients to lose benefits.”
🥗 I am so very worried about my fellow Americans.
🥗 Ominous warning from Arizona, where 33% of the SNAP caseload have lost benefits already. The 2024 food security report showed that 47.9 million people are food insecure. If we don't course correct, we will far exceed 50 million in the next estimates (if there are any)
