Someone left a comment on the page for that gig on my site: "I was at this. I reckon it’s the coldest gig I’ve ever been to. There was hardly anyone there – the two bands and about ten other people. I remember that the window was smashed and the wind was whistling through…"

I first listened to AGDCFF on a long car journey. When the twist is revealed towards the end, I let out an audible gasp.

I did read your post about this shortly after the night where I played that record. Thanks for the info.
We didn't see Weaver D's, but it was before they brought it to our attention. We saw in 1992 at the 40 Watt, a gig where Peter Buck played with some friends (including an attempt at a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit). My wife annointed Michael Stipe (i.e. dropped a cup of water over his feet).

...in retrospect we were probably the only ones not on E! They played Temptation that night, and it was phenomenal. Despite everything we have seen since, we still talk about that night fondly. (It was also the day I saw Spacemen 3 for the one and only time, not that I knew who they were.)
New Order headlined the Friday of the 1989 Reading Festival, the first festival that we went to. We didn't know them beyond the hits at the time, but it remains one of our best ever live music experiences. We danced around a fire near the side of the stage with people we had only just met...

Obviously I am biased. But I do think this is great, all the better for being fairly sparse itself (Pete did another version with drums that wasn't as effective). Jason did a good version when he did that acoustic Spiritualized tour too.
