People who impotently complain about ebikes give me life.

Thinking of using your ebike today instead of risking a car commute?

Don't. Unless you have a ski and track kit, your ebike isn't going to work very well today. It's a worst-case scenario.

Limit yourself to snowmobile travel only today if possible.

Badly BADLY needed in Toronto. Bikes may be what ultimately saves the city from perpetual gridlock.

If it was doing 50 mph then it wasn't an ebike that you saw. It was an electric motorcycle, and they're already illegal for (unlicensed) road use almost everywhere.

Enforcement is needed to keep those things off the road and on dirt bike trails where they belong.

FYI you can pedal a regular bicycle much faster than 20 kph. So what's the problem here?

So by that logic, a 50 lb bicycle is a motorcycle regardless of whether it actually has a motor. ๐Ÿ™„

"Illegal ebikes" you mean electric motorcycles?

OMG who the hell cares.

And then he sold out to the Saudis for a big wad of cash.

Done with Bill Burr.

If one more MP crosses the aisle, it will be the first time in Canadian history that a party achieves a majority solely through defections ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Nah Canada.

I have heard about the ebike restrictions in the UK though.

LOL if you swing the clarinet hard enough to use it as a weapon, the joints will come apart ๐Ÿ˜‚

Would be better off just using the case as a weapon.

Weird. Every ebike I've ever ridden was limited to 32 kph (20mph). I wasn't even aware that there was a jurisdiction where they were limited to 15 mph.

Pro tip - if your "ebike" can do a wheelie on motor power, it's not an ebike. It's a motorcycle.

Yeah that's really the best way. You'll find out for yourself what works and what does not.

The people of Reddit seem to live in an alternate reality from the one that I live in, and Youtubers prey on the paranoia of first-time parents.

Been 20 years since I've been to the USA, and I have absolutely no problem going 20 more years.

It's about this time of year that I put a folding shovel on my ebike specifically to help these overconfident drivers get out of the ditch, their driveways, et al.

Forklift arc light testing with the ebike continues. I'm very pleased with visibility.

Well, here's the verdict on distance. 8 feet away, 30 feet away, 60 feet away. The arc is actually far more visible than I initially thought.

If I put one on the front, I'll have a Dollar Store Light Cycle ๐Ÿ˜‚

I will be testing it further tonight now that the sun has gone down. So far I have only used it indoors.

HAHAHA I can't even play the wrong notes that fast.

Holy shit I don't spend that in a YEAR! Also glad not in USA.

Only 45 lumens from the source, and it's angled downward so the projector itself is barely visible - just the arc. The 80 lumen tail light mounted on my fender still visible and doesn't wash out the arc.

Rigged up this quick proof of concept.

Looks great. Power source at this time is two 9V batteries taped together ๐Ÿ˜‚.

A light projects an arc around the rear of an ebike.

A light projects an arc around the rear of an ebike.

Forklift arc light mounted to rear of ebike. Projects a red arc around the back of the bike for added visibility.

Thanks to sundance.bikesky.social for this suggestion. Follow them for more tips!

YEs definitely. $35.00 CAD each.

After reading your post, I tried putting one on the back of my bike. Looks good! Casts a bright arc around the back of the bike that would do wonders for visibility. Looks particularly good against the white snow.

Forklift arc lights are a red-hot item lately. Sold dozens of them.

I'm saving so much on fuel and insurance, I could buy a brand new $3500 ebike every 4 months.

I thought about upgrading from the Libre 2 to the Libre 3. I'm very glad that I didn't. Bullet dodged.
