And thank you, Kate, for helping me to achieve an ambition and get into the BMJ. Even better that it’s for my sewing than for science.

Oh no! Mine wasn’t too bad: I trusted my husband to read the instructions on how to defrost the turkey crown properly. He hadn’t, and Christmas lunch was served four hours late. He was appropriately repentant and we kept ourselves going with Christmas cake instead.
Some excellent advice & food for thought here.
I did medicine as a graduate & think that helped me to maintain some semblance of balance in life while a student, difficult as it was. Self care is so important, & hard as it is, vital to being a good clinician.

It’s really excellent, I’m interested to hear your thoughts.
Very much enjoying this year’s Reith Lectures. Thought provoking stuff discussed with sensitivity and compassion.

I am so looking forward to having the time to be on committees. I’m practicing by getting involved with management. It’s got to be good for something!
Very true! It’s good to know that when I have more time, there will be plenty more to keep me occupied. I love village life for that.
It’s the same in my small village too. So much happening, if I only had the time to join in.
Interesting chat about structural misogyny in the NHS discretionary points system earlier today. Harder for those with caring responsibilities, who tend to be women, to do the things that get them, or even find time to apply for them.
Thank you, it’s good to be here!
Could you add me please, Kate? Trying to make a move from unsatisfactory other places.
As slave to a cat who loves to play fetch & who has also made up a collaborative game, with very specific rules, involving chasing her favourite toy, this is my kind of research. And in Nature no less.

Sad news. I used to work near this lovely shop and always enjoyed popping in to buy some gorgeous frippery.
Gorgeous! Reminds me of my own white floofster Calypso.
Mystery paw prints in the snow yesterday. The return of the hare who occasionally visits, perhaps?
After a very busy week at work, spending Friday night reading my Kindle in the peaceful dark of a power cut, glass of wine in hand, is strangely relaxing.
