I don't even think you even really need bananas. That's what's so confusing about the game. It's only for the skill tree afaik, and that's completely optional. So that just leaves the story then, which is just talking to the next guy and getting told to go a few 100m further and talk to the next guy

There are moments in the game where it properly feels like Metroid Prime. But there are times when it VERY MUCH doesn't.
I pretty much lost my desire to play once we beat the end story mission. My wife lost desire even earlier. Good onya for getting through.

Age of Calamity is way more memorable than Age of Imprisonment. It's not even close for me personally.

If only the new characters had pizzazz, they'd be amazing. But they're largely relegated to "I am an unimportant general, and my only contribution is that I can wield a spear." Heck, Zelda's attendant is more memorable.
Ultimately, I've been finding the story super hard to get into because of this.
I have the "time" just need to make it the priority to make efforts on it and get back into the swing.
