The GBS discord is extremely active and helpful. One of the best things you can do at first is go back and forth between playing the tutorial game and looking at its code.
How is it on the Switch? I own it on PC but would love a handheld version. But I've gotten burned hard with Switch ports before.
The gunslinger with wings and force bubble is a great early starter.
None of the monsters would actually be sprites here. They are all baked into the background!
